I have a "project" Spector bass that i am about to start refinishing and customizing. I'll probably make a video with that one too as soon as i can get it done.

Sorry...from my iPhone it was tough to tell which he was playing. Took for granted since Spector's sponsoring him on SpectorCore that's what he was playing. /:

Hey all,
Concerning the two SSD NS6 basses, both labelled #20.
I'm relaying the info sent to me from the owners of the Reddish one from PJ:

Hi Rick,
Well the mystery is solved....
I got an email response from Spector and here is what they said;

hello -

thanks for the email.

no that does not sound right to me
there should be one serial number per model :)

according to our records:

NS-6P
#020
date completed 09.20.95
green stain, piezo option,
sold to PA dealer.

but wait I also see this:

NS-6
#020
date completed 04.12.95
'csb' which is cherry sunburst,
sold to OH dealer.

so...you are correct there was an error when
these were made and #020 was used twice!

So from a collectors stand point... If you had BOTH of these basses they WOULD be worth more together. There is value in having both pieces of an error in production.
that said, They really are not serial numbers but more like production numbers in this case #20 of 27
Serial number really should have the info so yo could tell what date, model, configuration, etc each unit is, like a car does.

When PJ said "there should be only one serial number per model. Model being the keyword here... As I read it, It may not be an error since the are of two DIFFERENT models designated as NS6 and NS6P.
Like I said, having identical serial numbers on 2 different model Spector basses is like having identical serial number for 2 different models of Roll Royce.

I would ask PJ if he could send you a copy of the paperwork on file for COA purposes.

Except the model is "NS6". The "P" denotes an "option", not a model change.
Regardless of how you see it that's just the way Spector does it. Don't know how Rolls Royce does it.

Knowing, playing and dealing with Spectors for over 20 years, I said this was probably the case and PJ just confirmed it. No better source than that as he's more up on these details than even Stuart.

Just setting you straight as your stated "opinion" seemed to state certain things (at least pertaining to Spector's numbering procedures) at "facts". Your post made no sense if you had been following the Spector club thread(s).
I'll give you that Spector hasn't always taken the most logical course in it's business and manufacturing processes,
but knowing how they do, do it is really the key.

No Diva-isms intended, just informed factual info.
(Besides, I'm diabetic. No Snickers please :p)
