Welcome to the club.
We have a great group of people here.... :hyper:

I could give you a biased opinion :eyebrow: on the upgrade from the 4 banger Legend to the Euro 4LX or NS-4CR to the NS-2  ...
But, Since I don't play 5 'ers... :smug:
I 'll let someone else give you a review and recommendation on the 5 banger upgrade from a Legend to a Euro 5LX or NS5CR vs. The USA model NS-5:D

A while back I purchased some DC pickups for my Spector. I was hoping to just drop them in due to the EMG quick-connect system... unfortunately they have more prongs than they preamp. Is there an easier way to make this work without buying another preamp? Am I able to buy other quick-connect systems and wire it to my preamp?

I've owned 2 different 5 string Spectors...
A Euro Rebop 5 and currently NS-95. They both are awesome 5r's but so far the NS-95 is my favorite of the two. I was very fortunate to buy it "New/old stock". And for a great price. I'd love to have a Euro 5LX some day also. They're suppose to be workhorses. The more that I play Spector 5 strings the more I prefer the 5r over a four. Totally SONIC!!! :hyper:
Good luck! :D :bassist:

I'm very excited. My solid white euro has gone under the techs knife to have my USA 9V Preamp installed. Should have it back sometime this weekend.

The preamp was on a two month backorder. So its been a long long wait. But I'm hoping it'll be totally worth it.

and to echo everyone elses sentiments. PJ at Spector seems to be a really standup guy. Totally patient and helpful throughout the whole process even when I started thinking that preamp was NEVER gonna materialize. :)

The 9V tone control is the best 2-band preamp ever invented. Love the sound with a J-MM pickup config (or whatever the EMG model numbers for those pickup types are....) still need to get an NS-2a to hear it (or rather the copy of it) with P-J's.

Still havent cleared out my stable to make enough room for one....

My US 9V Haz Lab pre is in my Euro LX and running. I'm grinning ear to ear playing this at home, absolutely love the grindy classic 80's Spector sound I'm getting out of it. This is gonna be so much fun. Four gigs in the next month to really dial this thing in. :D

Snazzy!

Although, one thing looks odd to me. The control cavity cover just sits on the body? I've played a ton of basses and every one had the cover sunk into the body so it was all one flat surface and didnt stick out. Are all spectors like that?
Many other manufacturers also do not counter sink.
For Spector, it depends on the model and when manufactured.

Oddly, most (if not all) of their lower level, Korean, Legend models are counter sunk with threaded brass inserts.
Many of their Czech and USA models are not.

Today I went to guitar repair shop and The man scared me to death.
I stripped the truss rod nut a month ago on my 5 string Rebop and Jiri from NBE(all euro models are built there) in Czech rep send me new one.
So the luthier asked me some questions and give me some answeres to
Here they are:

-How is your intonation because I have many Czech Spectors with missed fret position in recent time so I cant set intonation properly?

-Did you overtightened truss rod because you dont know how hard gauage of strings the neck can support?
I have Galli strings with 140 B strings on my rebop one year ago
than I put Sadowsky black on bass and now I want Galli black nylon on my bass.

-He is worried that Spectors neck wont support this kind of gauage of strings

-Than he said if I tightend truss rod to much so the neck wrapped and he will have to change the frets.

-Now he will test the extreams of truss rod movements so he can see if the neck will support Black nylon strings and if the neck is in good condition ,than he will set intonation.

I was shocked because I havent had feeling that I was doing anything wrong.
When I was tightening truss rod I never went on hard way -I used internet and This forum to educate myself and 15 years of expiriance playing and setting basses.

Yes I loosened the strings before adjusting truss rod or strings hight on bridge.
He said that he has many Czech Spectorsin past 3 years he can not set intonnation dead centered due to frets missplacement.

Here is his page just for information that he is right guy.

He has been in the bussines for 18 years and he was in many factories around the world (Fender...)

IF and I stress IF the frets are misplaced, that would be a warranty item and you should contact Spector for an authorized repair service order or shipping info to send it back to Spector.
If I was in your shoes, I would NOT let anyone else make any repairs of that nature BEFORE contacting Spector. You can can email [email protected] .
