Spector Club - Part 9

Hi,
I have a 2003 Spector Euro 4 Amber with solid maple wings. It is before the Tone Pump. It has bass. treble, pan, and volumne controls. It has never been played outside of the bedroom.

Does anyone have an idea of the resale value. I do not plan to sale it; the plan is to use it as collateral.

Please forgive me if this is the wrong place to ask this question.

I looked on ebay, but I only saw the newer (not solid maple) ones.

In that case it's probably an NS4CRFM, not a "Euro". That may help!

2003?
It's a Euro4 (2001-2004). NSCRFM's stopped in 2001.
Going for about $1000 these days.
If it's got the blend rather than Vol/Vol it's probably been tinkered with.
Actually, yours should have the Tone Pump. If it's 2003 and NOT a Tone Pump, that's probably been changed too.
They had Aguilar OBP-1's in them for about a year and then switched to Tone Pumps. Yours seems too new for an Aggie.

It could have a emg preamp . Don't remember what my controls were back when I had a 4 st . But I've had about 30 spectors . Had ns4crfm and euros , no lx , rebops , and so on . Seems like the first euro's had emg pre's and then aggies , then tone pumps . Seems like aggies came in with the newer "nb" serial number .

The NSCR's had EMG pre's and most were Vol/Blend.
The NB serials started with the Euro4/5 basses and most (if not all) were Vol/Vol with Aggies for about the first year (2001), then Tone Pumps still Vol/Vol.
If you have something different it was probably changed or special ordered.

yeah trace, i have one i cant tell what it is either lol. looks like a legend custom but without the 3 way eq ( has a 2 way with detents) and has a brass nut, dot inlays and black hardware, and weighs 1 lb more than my other legend customs. i see them on ebay and i cannot tell what model sometimes. i have a zebrawood rebop 5 in the mail, ( i paid last sunday, they didnt mail it till thursday! im so annoyed) cant wait to try it. johnny a.

I just received my first Euro lx this week and was wondering if anyone knows what setting the tonepump dial is set to when it leaves the factory? Im trying to dial in the growliest Alice in Chains type tone. I did watch JPS's video and did try the 50-60% setting but haven't been able to nail it yet. JPS, Its a very cool thing you're doing with all the vids and new site, keep it coming!:cool:

Thanks for the feedback.

The TP seems to be usually around 90%-100% from the factory.

Which is why I did the video. Yes. They are loud as heck from the factory and because of the zero attack latency they come across 30-50% more powerful than comparable circuits.

Alice in Chains... Both Mike Starr and Inez played USA NS-2s... although I know that Mike Starr also owned a couple of Euros, but this was post Alice.

Have you tried in the 40-50% range?

I know you can get a really dirty, gritty sound from the TP. Bassgiant here on this board can get a really growly tone from his Euro4LX... but I also think it has to do with his EQ and amp settings.

I'll PM you about my thoughts on the value.

I agree with Phat that it's post 2002... so it should have the TP in it.
Which means it's been replaced.
I agree with Phat except I think he meant to say your bass seems too new to have the Aggie. It's the older ones that had those.

Thanks for the info JPS, Im getting closer as this morning I have been a dial tinkering machine lol. As far as the TP dial, my dial turns 1/4 of what I thought it would. I did try 50-60 but haven't been lower. I will keep trying. Thanks!
