not much, gettin ready to go back out and play. tinkering around with basses and amps and tubes. other day i was thinking about taking an svt blueline preamp out, rackmount it with separate power supply and run it into the crown amps for gigging. hey whats the first year spector made 5 string basses ?

As far as market value,
I got my Euro4 used for $1100 shipped.
There are a couple of others (including NB0064 on this site) available around the net for about a $1000. I saw one recently as low as $700.
Euro4's, not LX's or NSCRFM's.

I have been playing on a Spectorcore 4 Fretless for nearly a decade! Out all of my instruments, it is the one I would never sell.

That being said, I have a few questions.

Has anyone been able to replace their rosewood fingerboard with ebony? Is it even doable? Worth it?

I, as many others, have been inspired by solo fretless bassists such as Michael Manring and his use of hipshot x-tenders. Is it possible to get x-tenders for Spectors? If so, which ones are applicable?

Thanks for any information and I apologize if this has been brought up before-search engines on forums never find what I'm looking for and there are entirely too many posts from part 1-9!

Stuart made the first NS-5 in 1979.
Production of the NS-5 didn't really take off until Kramer's purchase of SPECTOR in 1985.

There were a total of 74 made during the Kramer Era.

Because NS-5 wasn't ever trademarked by Kramer, when Stuart started the current version of SPECTOR (Stuart Spector Design, LTD.), the NS-5 kept it's name.

211 NS-5 SSD models were made. All Spector 5-strings to this point had been 34" scale.

And since getting the SPECTOR trademark back in 1997, there have been another 300+ made.

As far as Euro 5-strings, the NS-5CR started in 1994 and because of the serial number system there's no way of knowing how many were made.

The first 5-string Korean-made Spectors were the neck-thru 34" scale NS-95 models.

The first 35" scale Euro Series models were NS5CRFM Models which started in approx 1999.

The first 35" Korean-made models were the first versions of the Q Series - The Q5-Pro models which started in 1999.

All I can say about the Euro 5LX is Damn. Played with Invalid Link Removed this weekend and the 5LX fit in the mix beautifully.

Can't wait. I'd love for all the regular members of this board (and the irregular ones too) to do one of these videos.

Our stories are not very different as one might think. That common "SPECTOR" bond is a strong one.

You know it's funny.

In the About SpectorCentral section of the site, I did actually write the letter (BTW), when I say that the Artist Relations efforts of PJ Rubal are really unlike anything I've seen... I mean it.

From day one, Stuart took the approach that he'd never give instruments away. Something that is free has no value. So he's always charged his endorsed artists for instruments. Everyone pays for their SPECTOR.

So no free samples on SPECTORCentral other than I have no problem sharing the photos I take so you can have some proper, nice quality images for your computers and phones.

I've joked with PJ... if Spector gave artists guitars he'd be running the largest artist relations department in the business. Many artists with other companies not only get free equipment, but they get paid to play the guitars they're given.

At last count (last month) Spector had 580 artists. There are a couple of other companies that do the same thing that SPECTOR does... Ned Steinberger has never given instruments away either.

Just another reason I respect PJ. He has a really hard job in this economy. So many musicians are struggling, but yet SPECTOR is growing every month, adding new artists to the family.

That's awesome to know that about Stuart and the endorsed artists! I've wondered about that endorsement. It's so true about paying for your gear and respecting it...one of my son's is a pro snowboarder and is given boards, equipment and clothing all the time by his sponsor, so I know what you mean. Kudos to Stuart!!! And PJ!!!
I'll be working on my video also JPS...I'll have a lot of time on my hands soon, after shoulder surgery...hope to be writing songs then also.
Great work on the new web site!!!

Well done Patrick!!! The site looks amazing!!! I'm going to work on my Spector story video this week! I have some other videos I have done as well that You can use If like. I'm working on a few videos of my band's songs too that will be done in the near future.

I'm assuming the GB7 Hipshot Xtender model works best? I don't plan on buying a new bass anytime soon :p

If you are looking to change the tonality of your neck, there might be other options. If you are looking for brighter you can get a luthier to put an epoxy coat on the fingerboard. I did that with my fretless NS-2A and I love how it sounds.

I was unaware of this option! Is a coat of epoxy something basic or special?
