I'm assuming the GB7 Hipshot Xtender model works best? I don't plan on buying a new bass anytime soon :p
Depends on what you have now.
Schallers have been Spector standard equipment for a long time, but I learned only recently of the (recent?) use of Gotoh GB7's on some basses. Some have said they weren't readily interchangable. If you have Schallers, get the Schaller one (M4?).

Thanks for the welcome!!
Glad you could join the party.

Yes. The Gotoh GB7 tuner is the model that goes on the USA Spectors. I learned a long time ago and would assume this hasn't changed... that the tuners on Korean-Made Spectors are more Gotoh copies than Schaller Copies. Schallers have narrower shafts. So you can't put Gotoh's on your Euro Spectors or the original NS-2A Korean models (because those came with Schallers).
You can check with PJ Rubal ([email protected]) but I am pretty sure this is the model you'd need.
I hear you on the new bass thing... I simply said that to let you know that SPECTORs are good with Hipshot X-tender Detuners since they can be ordered with them from the factory.

I was unaware of this option! Is a coat of epoxy something basic or special?

My luthier used a boat epoxy... what you'd seal a wood boat with. I have also heard of luthiers applying super-glue. Not literally, but the same expoxy compounds found in it. The application is VERY tricky. But if done right it'll seal and protect your neck and it does brighten the tone. I love the effect it had on my fretless Spector.

Thanks again for the helpful replies!
Any time.

I saw an ad on CL for a Spector Holo-flash that he says him and his dad sanded off and painted :bawl:
what a dorkfish! :eyebrow:

I just picked up a minty SWR Goliath Sr. 6x10 for 140 bucks. Is that an OK deal? :hiding:

Good golly!!!!!! 140!!! That is a steal!!! That is what I use live. I've been looking for another or a megoliath. Good job on the find!!! :)
Wish I could find one for that cheap...

neat site ! i watched all the videos. i have been hearing doug wimbishes name for years, seeing him in magazines and bass ads, but never actually heard him. i was impressed ! i loved the use of the effects, and he has his own style all to himself. i also noticed on the studio video (looks like mr calhoun on drums?) his bass has alot of wear. thats interesting to see with an endorsed guy who can get a new one anytime. johnny a.

I'm not sure if this is the right place to be asking.. But I can't seem to get a straight answer on this.

Is there any difference in Emg SSD and the HZ? I have the SSD stock on my Spector Legend Classic. Was thinking about moving up to HZ cuz I wanna keep that passive tone and active preamplifier. I digg that sound.
