What is the difference (if any besides the obvious post type) of these two GB7 models?
I have a 2+2 of type 1, an inline 5 set of type 2...

I'm not sure if this is the right place to be asking.. But I can't seem to get a straight answer on this.

Is there any difference in Emg SSD and the HZ? I have the SSD stock on my Spector Legend Classic. Was thinking about moving up to HZ cuz I wanna keep that passive tone and active preamplifier. I digg that sound.

From what i've read it seems that the ssd's have a bit more mids, but a lot of people say they sound all but the same. I've never done a side by side comparison but I've done my fair share of looking into the same question.

My local GC has a Spector I'm guessing NS/2000/5 in cherry red in Excellent ++ shape for $599.99.
Little high IMO but you could probably get them down some. Item # is 106440290.

I have an NS-2000/4 i bought for 450. It plays really well and sounds nice too! I'm currently upgrading the preamp and pickups and possibly refinishing it. It kinda looks like the finish is wearing away slightly. can't wait to get it done though! It's gonna sound really nice once it's finished!!!

Haha somewhat tragic. I tried some chemicals to do some of the stripping work and It expanded the wood a bit making the crack seem somewhat offset. I tried to split it and ended with 2 big pieces and 1 little piece. I've got it about halfway stripped though. I never realized how burly those finishes are haha

Another cool FS item I saw;
The Low End has a white Spector NS-2JA-R with they say an upgraded USA Spector circuit 9V pre (read: HazLabs). Best that thing sounds ridiculously awesome.

Ironically, neither of those look like the Gotoh on my USA NS-4.

I imagine the gear ratios on those two are different. And it even looks as if the tread on the skinny post model is larger than the wide-post.

Yesterday I ve got my Rebop back from repaire.
-Truss rod nut changed
-truss rod is OK
-intonation is OK
-neck is OK
-Galli Black Nylon strings are on, with nice action but as I was told the truss rod is fully tightened .So I hope the autmn will not effect the neck to much.
-I am satisfied with feel,sound(they sound like old roundwound, without metal zing when played hard) and sustain of the strings.They are fat strings 055-075-100-115-130 so fingers will be tested.BUT I CANT PUT BASS OFF MY HANDS SO HAPPY I AM.

So I have a question for the experts here.

I recently got a 4-string NS-2A and I'm just absolutely in love with it. I've switched to using it full time in the cover/tribute bands I play with. However, the original band I play with tunes down to B, so I need a 5-string.

I've been using a Warwick Corvette for it and while it's done an excellent job, I'm less and less happy with the weight, the neck and overall feel of it. It sounds absolutely killer though, so if I trade it for a Spector 5-er I want to make sure that it's sonically similar.

I've heard a few people suggest getting a Euro bolt-on as a similar sound replacement. The used market seems to price them above what I could get for the Warwick but not substantially (price is a huge consideration right now).

What do you guys think?

I used to have a Vette 5. Played it a long while. I thought it sounded great, and as much as there's friendly jabbing between Spector/Wick camps, I haven't found a Spector that can totally nail the Wick tone, especially with their J/J setup.

Possibly you could try and nail a Euro with the EMG TW pickups and use them in Single Coil mode?

As much as I like my Spectors, I still love the Streamer II and Dolphin designs as they have their own unique sounds, just like my badboys.

Thanks! It doesn't need to sound nuts-on the same. I just want something that most closely matches that J/J growl.

I'll see if I can find a bolt-on with the TW pickups, but they seem to be mainly in the neck-throughs and right now I doubt I could afford that. Alas!

Worst you could do is pick up a Euro 5. With it being neck through, they've always been punchy enough for me, which honestly, comes more from technique (for me, anyway) than the actual instrument.

If you got a Euro5 and favor the bridge p'up a little bit you'll get plenty of bite. I wish they made the NS-2JA-R reissues in a 5'er model. That would be pretty slick.

I was just looking at those reissues and thought the same thing!

I use my fingers and have a very hard attack as well (I like to drag every bit of tone out of the bass it has), so that's a good point.

If only I had an infinite supply of money, I could just custom order one!
