That's a pretty good point. Another thing that occurs to me after considering your post is that it wouldn't be practical if only the best of the best taught, there are probably too many students.

IMO, Anthony Jackson (some consider him to be one of the "best") teaching a novice would be a waste of time for the teacher and student. They would just be too far apart in their learning curves. Take the same novice and set them up with incrementally "better" teachers and eventually they could be at a level where they could learn from the "best of the best".
I don't think anyone here thinks the Robbie is the "best". I don't know for sure, but I doubt that even Robbie himself would make that claim. However, he is going to be "better" than a lot of players out there and be able to help them along in their development.

And just to make this post a little more relevant to the club ...

On behalf of the regulars of the Spector forum, I sincerely apologize for all of the :crying::bawl:boo hoo:bawl::crying: that you've experienced on this page of the thread.

There are some of us here who just want to appreciate Spector basses for all of the yummy goodness and fuzzy warmth of the heart they provide.

If you could please ignore what you just experienced and continue to make positive contributions to this thread, like you were doing, I think that would benefit us all!

Congrats on your recent purchase! We here that actually represent what Spector is all about are truly pleased that you're enjoying.

Man. This forum has been busy. Hope this isn't pointless or bad news at this point.

You could do a couple of things. Try to find a NS-2JA-R and widen the nut slots and go BEAD with it. It'll be 34" scale... but honestly until 1998 all SPECTOR 5 strings were 34" scale anyway.

You could do the same with a ReBop4 or get a ReBop5.

If you can find a good price on a Euro4LX-TW-35 BEAD... that's what I did. I don't own any 5-strings. If I need a B... I don't usually need the G at the same time... I grab the BEAD 35' Euro.

Or look for another NS-2A and widen the nut and make it your BEAD model. It'll be 34" scale...

We'll then it wouldn't be a reissue model since the NS-2JA's were all 4-strings... LOL. But I know what you're saying.

They are rare, but the Kramer-Era NS-5 models were J/J... and they had the USA 9volt (Haz) circuit. They sounded amazing. But of course were 34" scale.

You can get a new USA NS-5XL with dual J's... but you said money was an issue. And that'd be a $5K bass.

Really diggin the new maple fretboards. Super classy. Is this the first time Spector's doing it, or was it an option at some point in the past?

Thanks for the input. I've considered the BEAD tuning but I actually do use all 5 strings and while I could just learn to play in the different positioning....... meh. ;)

Thanks for the suggestions all, I really do appreciate it. I'm probably going to look into the Rebop 5 alley, I love the looks of the zebrawood finish.

That's what I'm GASSING for BIGTIME. A neck-thru USA NS-2 with J/J and the 9v USA Circuit.

Same combo that's in this bass (in this video). Only difference is that Graham is playing a 5-string. But the sound would be the same.

See yeah- I gotta get one and I think we've talked about that plenty. :p

I usually don't like J/J setups b/c the beef isn't there, but with the USA 9V circuit I feel it makes up for that and gets you more body than with other J-tones. :(

I pretty much have decided it's gonna be that config, tho- however long it takes!
