My NS-2A is completely un-original. So good for you.
I put the active EMG's in mine with a new TonePump. And of course it was converted to a fretless.

The Bahama Blue with BEM and abalone inlays is a killer combo. After seeing Evan Seinfeld's (Biohazard) new NS-2 at NAMM... black gloss stain over nicely quilted maple and Todd Cooke's NAMM bass, the amber tube-quilt show-stopper with the BEM fingerboard. I wanted a hybrid. It should be getting close to being finished. Lots of SpectorPorn shall be brought forth on that day let me tell you.

Yeah I had originally done this as a gag for PJ. The T-800 was holding my water-cured redwood NS-4 in that photo. I've gotten to know Alex Webster... who is a super cool guy. So I did this for him. SPECTOR could never officially use it. There would be some serious copyright issues. But as fan-art it's fine. Like the "Shining" Spector headstock through the door photo. Just more funny than anything else.

That image is all photoshop. I used a bunch of photos of a life-sized T-800 prop from the last terminator film to composite it together. The actual prop is holding a "plasma rifle in the 40w range". So I had to do a bunch of rebuild of the T-800's arms. The strap is also photoshop. Anyway. Fun project. That prop is made of aircraft aluminum and weights almost 200lbs. It's 6'4". Crazy stuff.

Yeh I've been thinking about replacing my NS-2A pups for actives EMGs as there's some string digs on the "J" from previous owner. Must've been a bridge player like you JPS. :eyebrow: lol Plus I'd like to hear the difference.
JPS- why did you replace the highly sought after HazLab pre for the TP? Wasn't the TP designed after the HazLab?

I see ATLEAST 3 more Spector basses in my future but patience and $$$ will be my conductor. :bawl: the NS-2 in Bahamas blue tunnel maple W/BEM , NS-4 water-cured walnut (ever since I've seen yours JPS had to have one), and a Alex Webster sig model. Let's see...that'll be around only $15,000.00!!! :eek:! There's always winning some lottery cash... Better start playing! Lol :O or get better paying job...

Hey guys/gals...which bass magazine(s) do you read that you find useful and worthy content? Forgive me if I'm varying from this thread. :hiding: But I'm interested in what my fellow Spector bassist find useful in reading. Thank you!:bassist:

There's a difference. Mainly in the clarity of the tone... IMO.
The stock "SPECTOR" branded pups were the forerunner to the HZ line. So they are more low-mid balanced than scooped (low-treble with little mid).

The circuit in the NS-2A is a Korean-Made copy of the NJ-made Haz. And not that it's a bad circuit. It's actually really nice. But the one that came in mine didn't want to work with the active EMG's. There was some strange distortion and clipping. It worked fine with passives. But hook up the actives (and you have to wire power for the active pups around the board since it's not designed to power active pups) and it got really ugly sounding. I actually gave it away to a kid I know for his Ibanez bass.

The TP actually works really, really well in my NS-2A... being it's a fretless. I get some great gritty tone out of that bass... it's a fretless with growl. I love the combo.

Water-Cured Redwood. Not walnut. And you'll have to find a used one. The 100 year-old log that was pretty much one-of-a-kind has been used up. My NS-4 was officially the last WCR Spector. Unless another 100 year-old log that's been submerged in cold fresh water for that 100 years shows up... I'm afraid they're gone.

I think it's awesome that a company with a name like Spector has jumped in with both feet and embraced Alex Webster. He's an absolutely tremendous bassist, of course, but so few people can get by the "ew, he plays in a band called what?" that I think it really speaks wonders to those who can.

Good for Alex, and good for Spector.

Alex is a MONSTER bassist. He's got sick technical ability and he's not some meat-head... whatever the stereotype for Death Metal would be.
He's an articulate, intelligent musician who knows his stuff.
If you haven't ever seen him talk about music and his playing style. This few minutes of video should show you why SPECTOR is proud to promote him.
You may not like his music, but you can't deny he's a really nice guy and worthy of respect.

I know Neil Kernon a little bit (produced 2 or 3 CC albums) and he absolutely raves about Alex as well.

I'm a big CC fan so I've eagerly watched everything I can find of him talking about playing and gear and, well, just about anything else. Their most recent CD came with a "making of" DVD that also had some awesome stuff with Alex.

What I like about Alex is the whole rock star thing hasn't gone to his head. He's a very down-to-earth guy.

He writes most of CC's music now. And he hasn't lost sight of two important things... your music is about your fans and being loyal to them as they are to you.

And it's called "Playing Music" because it is supposed to be fun. He really enjoys what he does.

Honestly, people who get bent out of shape about the stuff CC produces should look in the mirror... they're probably the same people who'd bend over backwards to have Stephen King speak at their kid's high school graduation. And honestly I've read more disturbing things in King's books than the over-the-top stuff that Alex and crew have recorded.

And King is a genius... no doubt. But the stuff he writes about is very disturbing at times. So what is the difference. His new books are hailed as masterpeices. And yet Congress once tried to ban CC's music. Really?

After waiting over 20 years, I got my first Spector, a Blk Matte Euro 4LX in April. I have become addicted quickly and just purchased a Wht NS-2A and a early 2000's Blue-Blk Euro 4. Below is a photo of the new happy family. May I have a member number? P.S. I have a feeling they may be looking for a ReBop sister soon.

I've thought about it.

But I'm going to have Stuart build me a NS-2J... the neck-thru NS-2 with J/J and the USA 9v (Haz) with a Leo-Quan, the Wimbish/Hill neck combination and MOP neck inlays (instead of abalone). And I want it in gloss white.

I rarely play anything but my USA NS-4 and my frettless NS-2A... (and it's only a once a week thing). 9/10 times I reach for the NS-4. I've bonded with it.

I almost never touch the Euro4LX-TW-35... but I'm keeping it because it has the B string (untill Stuart will agree to do a NS-4 with 35" scale).

My Euro4LX-Classic (for sale) is stilling without a battery at moment because I play it so rarely. And the same is true of the NS-2JA-R, which is currently being stored in a case. I have the Euro4LX out because I used it in three of the 4 videos we shot for SPECTORCare two weeks ago.

And that's a shame. Both of those basses are killer and should be the apple of someone's eye.

I've thought about it and someone is going to own and hopefully love and respect these basses for their awesomeness. And the new owner of my Euro4LX will be getting a peice of SPECTOR history. So for someone who is into that sort of thing (being able to say, "That's my bass in that music video, etc...") it's going to be the coolest thing.

Besides... I just worked another consulting deal out with a SPECTOR dealer and in that deal I'm getting a new NS-2 they have in stock that I was looking at. So I'll have my BEM and a traditional-stock NS-2 to play on. Even the NS-4 will start getting some dust on it when they arrive.

Have my first question. The early 2000's Euro 4 that I just got, appears to have ser# NB0091. Would this have a dual or single action trussrod adjustment?

But you can still lurk around the clubhouse... and be a "Prospect". :cool:
Prospects get to:
Wash and wax our Spector basses,
get the Members coffee and groupies,
Scour the local music shop for stuff, etc... :D
