Yes. I love the neck profile on my JA-R. It is a wider-beefy neck and my Euro4LX or my NS-2A. The spacing is wider and I agree it's a much easier slap and pop player.
The bridge issue... I haven't had any issues at all. Of course the first thing I did out of the box was remove the strings and condition the neck. You're going to need to do the same. I guess the trip over seas tends to dry the neck out.
Anyway, upon putting the strings back on, I set up the bridge saddle height/intonation, etc...
I've had no issues with the bridge on mine breaking strings.
And the tonal difference is exactly what I was hoping for. It's a different sound than the trademark "Spector" sound... but it's still very much a Spector and I really appreciate having the ability to mix it up. So in this... yes... mine is a keeper for me.
You're going to really love it when you can play it. It's a great-fun bass. AND IT'S A WHITE SPECTOR NS... what more could you ask for really?

It's tough keeping up a club. I started the Modulus one and had to delegate to someone else b/c I don't have a big enough presence on TB anymore. And with how big this community is, especially for clubs like Fender, Lakland, Spector, Sadowsky, etc., it's a LOT of PM's to answer and keep track of daily.

Well to me the bridge angle just seems REALLY sharp compared to the brass Spector bridge. And the way the string unraveled from the core, it did it right at the point of contact on the saddle, and the other 3 strings you can see have some "gaps" in the windings at the same spot.
Of course who knows what strings are on this stock, and how long they've been there. Mine was NIB, not even a demo, so I'm not sure how long it's been sitting there after it was imported. I'm gonna try and hit up my local repair/setup guy tomorrow and get this baby in action. I had a new set of DR Hi Beams (all I play) to go on my NS2, but I would rather have a fully functional NEW bass than my old one sounding a bit more crisp!
Great bass! I love mine too, seems like more than a few of us have a white Spector fetish. For most its a Sting thing, what's funny is I've never even seen that bass since the Synchronicity Tour, I think it is in a hard rock cafe some where? This is my second one and I've not had any bridge issues either. Enjoy it!

Actually Sting is the reason I never got a white one!

Just a passing thought but maybe it'd be a good idea to ask PJ and Stuart about sponsoring a Spector Forum on TalkBass.
It seems to be working well for Sadowsky and might be a good synergy with your Spector website update work.
Guys can weight in here to offer up their opinions and test the water.
The Spector Club seems to be one of the more popular ones on TB.

I've talked to PJ extensively about all sorts of marketing venues and opportunities to connect with more players. And I regularly copy comments from here and forward them to him to read.
There's a lot of great people that participate on this forum. Some real great opportunitites to hear what loyal customers/players think and feel and I know they value this.
The main issue as I understand it isn't lack of desire. On the contrary I think Stuart and PJ care way more than most about what their customers like and want (thus the new bridges which they are working on with intonation screws... same brass bridge; just now the saddles can be adjusted much easier). They listen, but to be done the right way... things have to be done slowly and tested.
The main problem is time. One of the reasons they have stayed in business where so many haven't is that they keep their staff roster really lean. So they stay really, really busy.
He's said on numerous occasions he wishes he had more time to dedicate to things like this forum. But he's slammed daily following up on service and sales follow-ups, not to mention artist relations, dealer services, marketing and advertising. He's an incredibly busy guy.
I have to say that in my experience as a marketing consultant, I've never worked with a company who really, sincerely cares about their customers and their product as much as these guys do. They are the real deal.
I'll pass it on to him... again...
I talk to him about things mentioned here a lot. Stuart and PJ know the value of having all of us being excited about what they do.
So keep lusting for beautiful Spectors and rock on.
And again... I can't/don't speak for them and I do not work as an employee... I'm a consultant/contractor. So everything here is my opinion and nothing "official". It's just my observations.

True, but a couple of guys along the way offered to pick up the slack and were told to just "wait".
He's been on TB quite a bit and doesn't even bother to chime in here anymore.

- Bassists coming here for info on Spectors will be pleased to see a multiple topic sponsored forum where they can more easily find what they're looking for without using the TB Search function and spending hours wading through irrelevant material.
- New customers will be directed to the forum.
- Stickies can include information (like model history and specs) listed there or massed elsewhere via links. Think of Todd Cooke's page and the Japan Spector Club.
- The Spector Club membership can be maintained there.
- Topics can be specific and include separate ones for mods and repairs.
- Spector information will be centralized.
- Moderators can be volunteers from TB now. I will be happy to assist. I'm sure others will, too.
