Hey folks
I am picking up my 1st Spector today. Its a used legend 5 classic,
s/n 0029441 (what year?)
Its got EMG hz's on it.
It is missing the saddle for the g string. How hard is that to replace?
I am only paying $250 (w/case) for it. Am I getting a good deal?
Thanks
DDT

Congrats Dick!...$250 sounds like a pretty good deal for the Legend 5 to me (I'm assuming it's the Legend 5 Classic). They sell for about $600 new on MF.

Here is some contact info so you can get a replacement saddle:

Greetings
Well, I have returned home with NOT a used legend 5 classic, but according to PJ from Spector, a 2000 Q5 pro with EMG HZ's. I have already ordered a set of new saddles for $25.
The action is sweet and low. neck feels thin and comfy. My rig is locked up in our touring trailer,so i'll have to wait for tone-testing. Sounds great through my little combo amp here
at home.
Getting a quick saddle fix ready so I can play it this weekend.
Anybody know the differences between Q5 and legend classic?
I do know the newer ones have EMG SSD instead of HZ's.

Spector customer services is top notch they always answer very quickly...one two hours, and they are always willing to help.

When I first got mine, I was moaning on another forum about the time the shop took to deliver my bass. Stuart himself email me thanking me for being patient and congratulating on my new aquisition, he also post on the forum. I found that really cool

Hmm, i have a Rebop and i have tried a euro too.
I don't remeber that well but i think their necks were of the same thickness. I don't think that it's uncomfy though, on the contrary, i find it very comfy. :)

I was surprised too, and thought maybe it was just the particular bass I tried. The action was a little higher but the neck even looked thicker. And the edges were a bit rough as well, not rounded as on the Euro and Legend. Maybe that one got through quality control somehow.

I may do another mod to my Euro as well.

Countersink the control cavity cover and add some threaded inserts too. Don't know when yet, but you can be sure i'll do a thread on it.:)

Also, I just sent PJ an e-mail, to see if I could get a set of stacked knobs (like the ones on the US versions) from Spector.

I never understood why Stuart and co. never use threated inserts for their control covers. After a period of time of changing batteries, the screws tend to strip the wood from the holes. I would think that would be easier than routing a seperate battery compartment.

I don't see many picutures of these.
Set neck, EMG-HZs, 3-band EQ. Mine is the natural finish bass wood body and bubinga top.
I absolutely love the thin neck profile.

Edit to note that KPJ posted some great shots of the Legend Classic 5. Bolt-on with similar body and slightly different electronics.

I like that finish, but I dunno how resiliant it is. Looks like it will scratch easier than the enamel and clear-coat.
