I want to join the club! I picked this up in a trade. Has gold hardware, 5 screw bolt on neck, EMG-HZ pickups with an active EQ with a nice stacked pot. The previous owner wired up the active EQ for 18v instead of 9v. I'm assuming it's a Classic of some kind, but I thought the classics had the EMG-SSD pickups and black hardware. Oh well, I'm digging it more than the MIM Fender Jazz bass with 60's reissue pickups I traded for it.

I plan on replacing my pre-DLX ReBop 4 at some point and kcwm, if it's okay I'd like to keep your pictures as references: PJ owes me one, and he said he's be able to have a ReBop 4 sprayed Black. I'd much rather have it in Slate Grey at this point. To my eyes Spector's black can either look "too black" and obscuring the figuring of the top wood or slightly "not black enough" giving the finish a "chocolate" effect. "Slate Grey" is the perfect black finish IMO, and I'd love to have a Euro Spector in that color.

Hey guys, I posted this question on the setup board and the first response was a smart-*** post. So I thought I would post this question to my Spector brothers. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Last week I thought I would do some spring cleaning on my Euro and so I cleaned up the body, neck and fret board. I loosened all the strings and unhooked them from the bridge but kept them on the tuners while I did the fretboard. I cleaned it up and dried it off and put the strings back on and did some intonation.

Now my low B string at the 12th fret doesn't have the sustain any more. All the other strings have their sustain except the B. It plays for about 3 or 4 seconds before the string stops vibrating. I've tried loosening and tightening it, cleaned off the string really good, made sure the saddle was stable and seated properly. Does anyone have an idea what else could be the problem?

It's a Spector Euro neck-through. All the other strings still have their sustain, even the B as an open string. The strings were new last summer and I only play this bass at church on Thrusdays and Sundays. Please let me know what you think!

Sounds like the core of the string was damaged. Definitely just go get some new strings, probably time for that anyway.

I'd love to see a picture of the family!! How do you like your NS2A's? I'd love to get a hold of a gloss white one, I was attracted to the bass from seeing Sting play one and his was white.... :bassist:

I've got some individual pictures but I'm gonna try & get a 'family picture' shortly as they're not all in the same place.

I love the NS2A's.... superb quality and underappreciated.

Stings bass was an NS2 with the crowns.... but yes, white, is LOVELY on a Spector! ;):cool:

Hey Chris,

The NS2 is a particular body style/design.
Over the years there have been many 'versions' but basically it's as follows:

Pre-Kramer Spectors - USA made NT and BO
Kramer Spectors - USA & Korean made NT and one BO model (NS2C)
(Post Kramer) Stuart Spector Design (SSD) & Spector - USA made NT & BO, Czech made NT (Euro/LX) & BO (ReBop and JA-CR).... all at different price points for different budgets.

The Asian (Post Kramer) Spectors have slight variations on the classic NS2 shape & have been given different model #'s (NS2000, Rex, etc....)

Complicated I know...!
