Split P Pickup Q??

Most EMG P pickups don't sound like a P anyway, one reason is they're active and have a much lower noise floor (and respond differently to volume and tone), the other is they're always wired in parallel (not in series like a regular P) which gives them a less thumpy and airier tone.

Is there a Split P pickup that doesn't sound like a P? Anything out there that sounds like a single coil or maybe an airy sounding humbucker? Would love it if it was an EMG!

Rewire the pickup in parallel ... remember the s-1 switch that came on some fender basses?

With the p-pickup wired parallel the p-bass will sound like a jazz bass.
