I have two affinity Ps, both have a rosewood fbs and a "skunk stripe" but I have a friend with two almost identical affinity Ps and neither have a stripe! Interestingly my CIJ Aerodyne has the stripe but my MIA standard J does not...

Seems to be a theme for some people here......
Started with an Affinity like a lot of people here, still play it, still dig it.
Thanks for the feedback Surf and JWeber. In a blind test I wouldn't be able to tell you if it was a MIM or Affinity and currently I play a MIM now. 
Standard gold anodized 57 RI guard won't work, the outside screw between the knobs has no wood underneath it to screw into-
dinkbass, is this the only problem? How about the neck pocket?

the fit is fine, it's just that the hole placement for the pickguard screws is different from 57 RI to Squier Infinity. You know the little bumps of wood that protrude into the tone/volume pot cavity where the pickguard screws attach? Well, it needs to be in a different spot for the Gold Anodized guard than it is on the Squier.
One solution would be to use all the holes on the pickguard, but with just the one outside between the knobs, dab a little glue to the underside of the screw and just set it in the screw hole of the pickguard.
Here's a pic of a heavily modified Sq Affinity body that I used a 57 RI guard on. (this is bass porn for JWeber-) My solution with this one was to graft a wood section on for the screw to attach into.

I own Affinity Jazz Bass ..I`m in a fresh bass players group...playing for a year now...
I am thankful to Squire for making it cheap...I bought beginner set with 10W fender amp, cable tuner etc....
I paid for it 300e... I`m happy with it...sure I can see some flaws (screws are unevenly screwed into bass body....some ugly plastic pickguard......yeah so what???????????
When I was buying it I didn`t know if playing bass is my thing...(never played any instrument before)...
Thanks to my affinity I realized that I love playing bass guitar and in my musical experiments my Affinity will be always my first girl if you know what I mean
Sure probably I will get some more fancy ones,... So what?? My Affinity was and will be my first bass guitar (sounds good) and for that only I will love her till the end of my life )

I also have an Affinity 5-string Jazz bass. I love it but I had to change the pickups because I do some session work and the hum from soloing each pickup was too much. I got the DiMarzio Ultra Jazz and it sounds great. I have to cut the highs though because it sounds like an active bass that has the highs cranked. Definitely cuts through the mix more though....

I too love my Affinity, although 1/2 of the split p'ups failed and I just got a set of Peavey Furies for it.
Yeah - they can be a little 'bright' for sound, so I added another .1uF cap to it on a toggle switch so I can call it in or out as needed.
Some ROTO 77s and a little foam on the bridge and it's all good.
I found a set of nickel-plated tuners and they really worked out well too:::
My 1st bass I got about 1-2 months ago is a Fender Squier Affinity Jazz Bass. Haven't changed anything on it yet. It's the first and only bass I've ever played. I feel an addiction coming on though so I'll end up with a few different basses

I did get addicted and after my Squier Fretless Jazz, I bought a Squier Precision, Squier P/J and a Squier 5-string Jazz. They are great for taking multiple sounds for recordings and for traveling because I don't care if the airline luggage guys break the necks off. They're cheap enough where I won't cry if they get damaged.
Digging this gem up because I've been playing my black Affinity P bass and I love that thing. It's virtually new- hardly been played- and it sounds great, plays very well and is just plain fun. I tried to upgrade and I'm not certain that's easily done, if so it'll be costly. I'll probably change the pickups out for quarter pounders but even completely stock it's a blast.
I tried to get myself a new bass since my daughter took to my Affinity so much. Well I might be buying her a new bass instead, not certain yet.

I have recently acquired an Affinity Bronco as a project.
It now has upgraded electrics, a cool rail humbucker, Status tape wounds and a rattle can amended scratchplate.
Sounds great, nice and light and not too much of a stretch now my thumb is showing signs of wear and tear!
