Cool. I'm in on this club. I've gotta regular old black MII affinity jazz. I haven't played many basses, the only one i've used before it was a cheapo jay turser P bass, and my affinity was worth every single penny i believe. sounds great, can be lot lot like a P for some thing and really punchy for slapping. Love the bass

Ya gotta remember that there are a great number of versions of an Affinity P over the years. Without the year of manufacture, it's pretty hard to prophecy if the PG will or won't fit.

My '98 has such an oddball dimension to it that I've stuck with the single-ply white PG - I refuse to pay yards of money for just a PG one-off at the moment.

It's not just the placement of the p'ups and the controls, it's also the ability to cover the areas that are removed to get the controls INTO the body cavity too. Any replacement PG for my Affinity will not cover the Grand Canyon under the OE PG.

I think it's a '05 version and it has 13 holes. Do I have any luck ?

Anyone with gold anodized on his Affinity P bass?

Hey, I was at a local GC the other day and tried 4 Affinity Jazz basses and I noticed on the back of the necks on two of them there was a long stripe from the head to the heel and the others didn't.
Can anyone explain this?
BTW, the striped ones had a different feel than the un-striped ones too. And I'm thinking about going back to pickup one of those Affinity Jazzes.

Price check..

I have an oportunity to get a 1987 P bass for $200CDN and its a Korean. Now I am not sure if at this time its a Affinity or something made out of cardboard.

Its white and has aged to a nice cream looking very nice.

Worth it or should I get a new VM?
I do own and have played for some time so I can figure out if its in good shape once i see it.

The walnut inlay is filling the slot where the truss rod was installed.

It happens on some Fenders when the rod isn't put under the fretboard. Many times it is there if the fretboard is not the dark rosewood - but that's not a hard and fast rule.

Either way - it's not a disqualifier and my Affinity P has none whereas my higher end Fenders may or may not have one.
