My colleagues from work returned from NAMM and they say it's pretty much a rebranded VM, pure and simple. So, I expect the same QC as VM series. Too bad, CV was better IMO.
We can feel it with the prices. So mostly like for a lot of things today, we will be able to say "it used to be better".
Sure, but when CV and VM were both available, the majority did agree that CV was the better series and had better QC, fit and finish. Some people did prefer VM, for one reason or the other, but CV was generally the best Squier.

I can only say: get it. I have 7 basses in 8 years and this is my favourite. I finally bought a flight case because I feel like I'm gonna keep it unless I become homeless, honestly!! But that's also a very subjective point of view. For sure it's well made. And if you take it, I hope that you will love its tone as love as I do. To me she has the 60s tone I wanted![]()
I played an olympic white jazz CV for 3 years as my main bass. Didn't modify anything on it. They are workhorses for sure.
Yeah the quality of the CV is great! My CV 50’s P really talks to me and everything feels so....like it should! Play it with chrome flats and even the stock pick up is great!!
I like the idea of a low(er) priced bass with a solid neck and good body/neck wood material - which is subjective! If it's all good, just put whatever tuners, bridge, pickups in it you like.
Yeah the tuners on my original CV Jazz Bass are rock solid, sometimes it's in tune even after I take it out of the gig bag. The original CV high-mass bridge is also great. I had a Fender MIM Jazz Bass where the tuners were complete sh*t. The bridge saddles were sliding to the sides all the time. So yeah, these inexpensive basses can come with some solid hardware. But you know, the aforementioned CV Jazz Bass that I have doesn't sound that great in a band setting (tried two different amps already), so I'll probably be swapping the pick-ups for some Fender Originals. In all honestly, I never issue with original bridges or tuners but maybe that was luck? Even on a Squier Precision Affinity from 2006, the tuners were rock solid.
They should include a 50's model in the line-up... And it would be even cooler if they would make a 70's p bass with a non-blocked neck... Btw, my maple family:View attachment 3303354
