Yes... Poplar isn't the best wood for sunburst... maybe the sunburst is too transparent, too!

THATS IT.

Nice! Ive got the black CV Jazz like yours and I wanted that white CV P, but I really like this $69 Glarry P bass I got an may not even get another one right now. Also have the Jazz version coming which I will probably like more than my Squier Jazz, just because of the neck really.

Yes, I am pretty certain that a Fender Road worn 50s Precision would be about as close to my old favorite as you could get. I will have to spring for one of those at some point. As to my basses, I've got 3 Player Precisions , two Players Jazz basses, a couple of 70s CV's, a CV Precision, a 50's CV (tele looking?), about 6 Deans. Its' a lot! When I was younger you could not buy a decent bass for low money, it was Ricky, Fender and some Gibson's. An Alembic if you had a rich dad or were a successful drug dealer on the side. For the money, the Dean Paramount and Juggernaut are hard to beat on sale for $299. Made in Korea, and everything about them is pretty high end. Next would be the CV's. Really cool basses for not much money. I'll probably spring for the 50's Precision Bass, which looks pretty cool- but I was a little scared by the 7.25 inch neck radius. A CV 50's Precision with a maple board and a modern neck radius would probably be perfect. Either that, or I spring for an American Professional Precision with a maple board.

Let me just say, Korean made stuff is super on point - SIRE... need I say any more!? And super affordable for the money too. I rock a Fender, otherwise I would DEFINATLEY have a Sire, if it wasnt for personally I prefer a passive bass, and more traditional looks and tone of Fender, yet the quality and consistency is top notch, they are more modernised takes on traditional fender designs, but u can pick up a killer p, j or p/j at an affordable price, and the quality and sound is right up there with the big guns, and that is absolutley no exageration, as some do tend to do with Squiers. So if that more modern refined traditional design what ur after, sire is extremely hard to go wrong, for ANY player at that!

Squier too, but I would not expect the quality to be as consistent. But u never know, trying basses out before u buy is essential to finding the right bass. It just makes sense.

In my limited experiences of trying a few odd fenders here and there, and two 2019 CV70s, I will obviously be biased towards Fender, as that is what I own, and what I liked. I can tell you that the player series jazz bass I picked up was, and still is, one of the most comfortable and nicest built jazz basses I have ever played, just second to an american pro, as it felt only the most SLIGHTEST bit more solid (but that might have been because it was heavier ) but as far as sound, it is the nicest Iv'e heard. Out of Fenders/Squiers, I've played 2 '19 CVs, a player series, a roadworn series, a mim geddy, a mim standard, 2 chinese affinities, and an american pro.

So what I'm saying is, try some stuff out first. In my personal experience, I would recommend a roadworn p bass, definatley, before an indonesian Squier CV. Now, that is NOT saying that the new CVs are not any good, because they are! That is NOT saying that some of them out there may give Fenders a run for their money, and their IS a big price tag difference between fender classic/roadworn series and squier CV... about double the price!

The CVs I tried, yes, were good, but compared to the player series, the sound, clarity, and feel was evident that the fender was the superior instrument, in every way, and the extra $300 was easily justified to me.

I hope this u helps a bit, and anyone else interested in some of my personal experiences of some cool basses! ;)

So folks, who's having fun with their newest Classic Vibe bass? Any feedback? Videos? Soundcheck? Photos? Acquisition?

As far as I am concerned... I made myself a "FrankenSquier" with a 2013 Affinity alder body and a 2012 Classic Vibe 60s Precision neck (didn't pass QC control back in time, only a matter of aesthetics)... white pearled pickguard and flat dome knobs :)

Here's some pics:

Nice work! Did you make any fit adjustments at the pocket, or did it drop right in?

Drop in :)

The neck sounds great, bridge sounds like ass. Really like the SD Apollo's. Anyone like the Lace Manowars? They seem hot as hell.

Try to increase its height, first. Maybe you have 70s bridge pickup tone in your head and these have more growl to them IMOE :)

Dead, sorta like a dry fart
I prefer the wet burp of a jazz bass bridge pickup... dry farts are a step in the wrong direction.

I missed the part where you said VM and not Classic Vibe. Oddly enough, my experience with the VM jazz basses is that the pickups either sound awesome or clacky with no balls. I was convinced it was a string issue. Who knows...
