I prefer stock VM77J over the Dimarzio Area J (stay on my VM77J less than 3 days.)

I try EB cobalt and Ti flat on it. EB Cobalt are growl and open sounding meanwhile Ti flat has growl meaty tone with less hi.
End up with Ti flat because I can get a tone pretty close to single coil 51P bass on neck pup, and the solo bridge pup sound better solid and louder than Cobalt flat.

Anyone played the new Indonesian Classic Vibe models, and had a chance to compare to the former Vintage Modified models? I'm specifically considering a Jazz 5er, can get VMs at a good enough price but assuming they won't be hanging around much longer. Unfortunately won't get a chance to play both myself at the moment.

Mostly interested in build quality and weight as can always upgrade parts, but any experience with the pickups, tuners, etc would be really helpful, too.

My experience with the new Indonesian Classic Vibes has been nearly identical to the Vintage modified series... some are dogs and some are absolutely amazing! Choose wisely.

My new #1 gigging bass is 2019 CV 60s jazz bass. It has about 4 gigs on it now and I’m content with all the stock parts other than the tuners.

Hey everyone, on another thread someone said they could feel a nub on the fingerboard of the Fretless CV where the lines are marked. Can anyone verify or let me know if that isn’t the case? I won’t to get a fretless but don’t want to spend a ton if it is not going to be a tool I use often so I figured the fretless CV Jazz would be a good foot in the door.
Thanks!

Did they feel this "nub" at every fret marker, or was it a single spot on the fretboard? We have one hanging on the wall (unless it sold over the weekend)… Ill do a quick nub check for you lol.

Am I right in thinking that the CV is the only maple board Jazz 5 string in the current catalogue, until you get up to the American Pros? Not to mention the pickup spacing.

Really getting a hankering for a Jazz 5er, and although I'm concerned about some quality reports in the thread, it's a much easier choice when the Players only sport pau ferro (not bad, but not my first choice - limited colours, too, and I'd still probably invest in lightweight tuners).

I bought a 2019 CV 60s jazz in Daphne Blue. Got it on reverb for $315. I love it it is amazing. Also bought on reverb an Ampeg BA-112 V2 to play it through.. It sounds and plays and looks amazing.. my other bass is a Sterling sub Ray 4 in mint green that thing is top notch too and I got the SUB bass for $179 on mint condition.. I for one can tell y'all the 60s jazz classic vibe is one damn fine bass. The 2019 60s CV jazz bass reminds me alot of nicer mid range jazz bass style basses made by other brands.. as in $5-600$ Ibanez or like a rock bass by Warwick.. not the sound but the quality and playability.. With all that being said .. believe it or not one of the bass jazz basses I've ever played was an affinity series jazz bass one of the very old ones though like when the affinity series first came out. Here's my bass

Awesome haul man! I love that color so much that I got one myself. Enjoy!

Today marks my number two and number three '19 Squier CV basses I had in hands. After a 70s Jazz Bass NAT I personaly bought, I had 60s Jazz and 60s Precision in a shop for a test today. Both freted. Long story short: don't buy.

Let's start with the 60s Jazz in Daphne Blue : awesome colour, nice looking pickguard, laurel seems brown tinted and more "regular textured" that what the Affinity's get. Although not as dark as rosewood, it surprised me in a good way. But I would still try to oil and tint again. New headstock logo is crazy nice. Less goldery than the previous CV though. Volume output is high compared to previous VMs and CVs (I had a VM in the shop to compare the output). The pros stop there.

Then the cons: I wasn't sure before I had one in hands but I already had a giant doubt from the Internet's photos... but they FAILED at making the two pickups being PARALLEL. Can you believe that? My eyes is sharp for these things. That's dont a matter of perspective. Then... let's continue. Oh? Oh, oh. The volume pot for the neck pickup is dead. Completely. Ok. Nut piece at the headstock is way too high, and bad shaped. Very rough. Ok the bass isn't tuned... the shop owner didn't bother tuning it before handing. Let's do this by ear.................. Done. Okay 1cm action at the 7th fret!! SUPER HIGH. Let's play some Jamerson??? Nah...

I played 3 minutes. Strings were poopy. Then, the guy let me tried the old VM in NAT (Called VM70 with the 60 PU sapcing). Way better experience. 2 piece maple body is awesome looking too. Before leaving the shop, I asked the poor shop owner to see the 60 P in Sunburst... well the 3 pieces of poplar are so irregular... It would be okay, it gives caracter! I know some people will hate, though. And the the cherry on the creamy cake: headstock logo miss the golden part... it's just "nasty green". Wow, very good control quality, like everybody said already in this thread. These new CV haven't good any good vibe to them. I'll definity pass.

CV 2006-2018 >>> VM >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> CV 2019

I'm sorry to bring negativity guys. I have 2 previous CVs, and they're far better. I wished I could still pay 500 bucks and get a better deal.

Edit: Here's a quick (sorry vertical) video I did before testing the bass.. AND SEEING THE DEFECTS :

It amazes me at all the “bad quality” basses your looking at. Did you take any pics? Would like to see some examples of the defects.

Like I mentioned in my PM to you...wonder if the lower quality basses are being sent to particular areas of the world. Better quality being sent to where there are more sales?? OR.....your too darn picky.LOL ;)

But ya take some pics, if the shop doesn’t mind, of the basses.

The guy was watching me, I asked for the video, he seemed a bit "hmm, what for??" but let me. But there was people waiting for him and for tryouts. I didn't bother too much. Seriously I don't care if they are better models in the rest of the World. I'm not traveling for a 400 bucks bass. Screw that. These new CV are bad, period.
