Squier Classic Vibe 2019

Alright so I ordered an Allparts parchment guard.
Bugger.
I wonder if the control plate isn't standard, or if the Allparts guard is funky.
At least all the screw holes line up!

If you looking for cheap replacement part, why choose Allpart ? I foUnd lot cheap part from their website pretty similar to cheap china part.
Go with Aliexpress. If the stuff are not as described, just open dispute and get refund.

I always get pick guard from Preloo on Aliexpress.

Fit well, nice cutting and colour as described.

The Walnut Precision and 2-Tone SCPB caught my eye. What's the difference between the current '70s P-Bass and the "Black" '70s P-Bass?

And what is that pickup in the Mustang? It's like someone took a split P pickup and decided corners were too mainstream.

And finally, who else thinks these basses (especially the 50s P) seem a little off without brass saddles. Certainly made the older blonde '50s P look a little classier...

The 2019 one has different body wood (nato vs basswood) and slightly wider nut (1.685" vs 1.650"). Headstock logo is different and it is missing the bridge cover and the whatsamacallit finger rest thingy on the pickguard. New one has bone nut (not absolutely sure what the made in China model has but thought it was not bone). 2019 one comes from the factory with .045-.105 strings while the old one was .045-.100.

In addition people have said the 2019 CVs have different, possibly inferior, tuners. The 70's P is not available yet but probably will have the same tuners as the other 2019s.

Please do add info and/or correct me if I got something wrong.

You forgot the pickup. I have no idea what the new pickups are but the ones in the old Chinese 70s P-bass were really nice. Some say thay were made by Tonerider, I'm not sure to be honest, but they were certainly the best pickups I've come across in a Squier P-bass and one of the main reasons the old Chinese CVs were such great value. Much better than say the "Fender Designed" VM pickups, although I really liked the 5-string "Fender Designed" VM pickups. For some reason they were a LOT more aggressive in the upper mids and SNARLED compared to the 4-string version!!??

I suspect the pickups in the new CVs are more typical Squier quality. Meaning they're something I would factor in the cost of replacing. But I haven't tried them yet so I could be completely wrong. I'm mostly interested in the Mustang so I would LOVE some reports on it, especially the pickups. But I can totally see myself getting one of the 70s P-basses too and sticking a DiMarzion Model P inside it just for the fun of it. Now THAT would be a 70s vibe!!!

My CV Strat had amazing Tonerider pickups. I was under the impression that the CV line had already switched to Squier pickups, but that they were vintage-spec, unlike the VM pickups. My expectation is that the new CV pickups will sound more or less like the old ones, although they might not be as good.

Yes the Indonesian CVs have already changed to Squier pickups but I think the post I was replying to was comparing with the previous Chinese CVs as it said nato vs basswood. The Indonesian 60s CVs have poplar bodies. But it's all getting a bit confusing.

I guess my point was this: I don't expect any of the current Indonesian CVs to be the exceptional quality of the Chinese CVs from the past. But I hope to be proven wrong because that Mustang looks fun!

I have a CV (Strat) and three VMs (Mustang Bass, Jazzmaster, La Cabronita). They're all spectacular. I have played a lot more bad VMs, though.

Has anyone tried the new p'ups? I've seen some stores online claim the current (2019) ones are Toneriders, and other sites say "Fender designed" on their spec sheets.

I remember the 70s P Bass pickups sounding great, but the 50s certainly benefitted from a swap. These were the old models.

I just noticed the older Precision had the price jacked up $50. But the 2019 SCPB dropped $50. Hmmm... :bored:
I own a 2019 CV 60’s Jazz, and I’ve previously owned a few different Chinese classic vibes as well.. I feel like the $50 price drop makes the new Classic Vibes just as good of a deal. That is to say I feel like the old ones are at least $50 “better”. I worked at Sam Ash up until a few weeks ago and I got to play around 20 of the various models. While I love my 2019 Jazz, it took a while to find a great one. I don’t believe they are as consistently good as the Chinese CVs... at least not yet. Hopefully the bad ones are a symptom of growing pains from the move. I doubt it though.

That is old new on earlier CV bass.

I own tonerider TRP1, she sound different than my CV 60P stock pup.

Both CV70P and mattfreeman SIG p pickups are great sounding, much better than VMPJ and VM fretless P.

Get the CV70P if you still can found it.

I assume you are talking about the Chinese CV70P? There's an Indonesian CV70P too now... and one of them is even black and looks practically identical to the Chinese CV70 except without the brigde cover. It's all getting very confusing.

I agree that the old Chinese CVs were WAY better than the VMs. No contest. The VMs were "good for the price". The Chinese CVs were great instruments regardless of price. I've got the Chinese CV70 P-bass, CV50 P-bass and a CV60 Strat. They're all truly exceptional for the price and in a totally different league than any other Squier series I've tried. The only negative would be the tremolo system on the Strat which was just "ok" but certainly no worse than anything else available in it's price range.

True; but so far the newest CVs didn't follow my expectations... Bought one, tried 2 others, all deceptive. I'm gonna try a last time... God knows why.

Yeah, I did not so much forget as did not want to speculate. I did not really know how the pickups in particular were regarded in the old CV 70's P-basses and none of us have heard the new ones yet but after your comment I agree it seems more likely the 2019 CV 70's P-bass pickup might be one of the notable changes between these models.

Yep, that comparison was strictly 2019 CV 70's P vs the previous CV 70's P specifically. 2019 line will have two 70s P-basses, one is mahogany colored (or nato colored maybe) and the other is black as was the old, made in China one.
