my jazz wears chromes, and with the concentric controls i see no change in the near future. (sorry about so many lower case-petting a a napping dog w/ other hand)

Yeah, my first dent on my bb 50s p and I said oh shiz. The next two were easier to take. They just appeared. Yeah these things are soft, I think softer than basswood; at least old basswood, my 21 year old Squier HM5 was dent free when I let it go in January. They'll look like real 53's in no time. Love it! Well maybe not, the poly won't wear like nitro.

I should have asked for a number in my previous post. What you are seeing there in my attached picture is my Classic Vibe Jazz Bass '60s which has been modified with a set of D'Addario Regular Light Gauge Chrome Flatwounds and the black pearl pickguard as shown.
Next to that is my Squier Vintage Modified Jazz which has been fitted with a Classic Vibe neck and D'Addario Medium Guage Half Rounds.
May I please get a number in the next round of handouts?

Have any of you guys changed the tuning machines on these CV basses? Is it really worth doing this on a low priced bass like this or would you say the stock tuners are good enough?
I tried flats on my Jazzes but, it didn't speak to me like flats
on a P bass does and I thought it was just me
I may try again maybe some TI's, haven't done that yet.
The stock tuners on the CV's and the VM's are good, but these basses are good in every respect, so putting some vintage tuners, (or whatever) on wouldn't be a waste, just as you put them on a MIM.

I think the CV tuners are really nice. Nicer than on the VM. I put black Hipshots on my VM jazz (black string tree and bridge too) to match the bindings, block markers and pg; not necessary, just for looks but they are a vast improvement.
The CV tuners are much heavier in build with larger spur gears and hence higher ratio, heavier button shafts, capstans, bushings, and plates. The only issue I see is the finish on the plates, it could be smoother to the touch. None of the other parts are lacking. I see no need, I move mine around in a gig bag and it keeps in tune fine if I don't bump the head. The string tree finish was poor so I swapped the chrome vm tree in.
