Squier Classic Vibe Club (Part 3)

Just picked up a 60's CV P-bass yesterday. I was walking by the local music store, walked in 'just to look around' like I always do, and found her hanging on the wall. Couldn't put her down, feels fairly light with a great, open, woody tone. The neck might be the most comfortable P neck I've ever tried, and the vintage frets make it super easy to play. Played it side-by-side with an American P, neither bass was 'better' I thought, just different. I already have two P's in my stable, I have no reason to own another, but this just felt so nice I had to own it.

Took is straight to band practice, played through my Fender 100t and Ampeg fridge, sounded and played great. Nice tone with both fingers and a pick. My bandmates all said they loved the sound of it. Then I took it home and played for another few hours, couldn't put it down.

I've been gassing for one of the new 63' AVRI P's, but after buying this I'm not so sure about picking one up. Music is a hobby for me, its a bit hard to justify that cost when this will get me most of the way there. Might swap out the pickup and the knobs, otherwise I think she stays stock. I also will be putting a set of Chromes on, I think this bass is screaming for flats.

Beautiful Bass, I've been contemplating one of those myself. I bought it's sibling the CV Jazz two months ago and love it, especially after putting chromes on it. I already had chromes on my MIM Jazz and was very happy with them but, I was really blown away by the way they gave the CV a real "Classic Vibe", Just sounded and felt great.

So please let us know how they work on your P.

Just picked up a classic vibe 50's p bass, butterscotch from zzounds. It took a couple tries the first one I got had a bad bow in the neck. The second one had horrible grain and was used, the strings where actually oxidized when I got it. The third one perfect...awsome grain pattern and a great neck.
I was thinking of swapping the pickguard for a parchment or pearloid pickguard, anyone done this? Actually does anyone have a white one they would like to sell?

Seeing yours makes me want to put the tort guard back on mine instead of the white one.

Daaamm Im really interested on the Squier Vintage Modified Telecaster Bass Special , me beign a devoted G&L asat Bassist i saw that Squier and now want to try for perhaps a backup or so, should be heading to GC and Sam ash around my city to see if they have any and try it out, then perhaps buy it i dont know lol :hyper:

Hi everyone this is my first post.... here it goes!

i have been craving a P bass for a while now..after reading all the good things about the CV P bass i couldnt resist getting one on the local CL for $200 barely played (<5 hours) and stored in a climate control room for a year. I changed the string the Marcus Miller Fat Beams and havent been able to put it down since i got it! (it was even hard to put it down to take a picture)

all i have to say is this bass is AWESOME! basically perfect (fit and finish wise) and i am very satisfied with the tone!

of course heres the picture (yes i took off the finger rest)!

Maybe it was just where I was living at the time but when I started playing bass in 1998 (14 years old) I saved up for months and bought an Applause P-Bass for $250 I was so stupid I called it a Fender Applause anyway for the price of what I paid for that I could have had one of these vibe series and could have saved all the misery that the Applause cost me.
