No jazz on my end but I do have the CV P. I had it strung with chromes, 45-100 gauge, also bought a vintage-style strap and straplocks for it, though I haven't taken the pickguard sticker off! I played the bass last night at my originals band's gig, and took it to rehearsal today with my cover band. Really loving this bass with flats, they need to be worked in a bit, but they suit this bass nicely. The bass is super-light too, which is nice since I have a bit of a bum shoulder.
I find the stock pick-up is very mid-rangy and modern sounding, and very loud. There's nothing wrong with it, but I think I'm going to take the SD Antiquity out of my MIA P and put it in this, I think it'll suit the bass well. Then I'll put the OEM pickup back in the MIA, and re-sting it with rounds, so I'll have both a 'vintage' and 'modern' sounding P.
Overall I think this is a fantastic bass, and not just for the price. I love my MIA Fenders, but this hangs with them easily. No need for Fender snobbery with one of these!

Fender/Squier website "specs" are frequently inaccurate.
They still show the Squier Dirnt as having a "Thick C." I owned three Squier Dirnt's and they were each a shallow C, nothing like the MIM Dirnt Sigs (real thick C") I have owned.
If I see another Butterscotch CV 50 P I'll give it a try. I expect it will be exactly like the three CV 50 Ps I previously owned, with the only difference being the description typed in by the person who updated the website.
I can't image Fender/Squier actually retooling a neck with a "color change," especially after already introducing the color (butterscotch) with the same spec as the previous run in lake placid blue.
I've owned two CV 60s P Basses and they have a much thinner/shallower neck profile. In fact I currently own a Chris Aiken P (same profile as CV 60 P) and I have a CV 60 J neck on the way.
Squier CV necks are a great bang for the buck after you give them a "tune up."

If that's your experience, then fair enough. But, honestly, the neck on my LBP 50's was massive. Like a Steve Harris sig.
Do you guys know if the Matt freeman bass has a cloth wired pickup? I ask because I got this pickup for free out of a heavily modded matt freeman bass and I put it in my CV 60's P , it sounds great and has cloth wires whereas the original one in my CV, the sonic blue model has a regular wired , rubber material.
I think the CV line is the best Squier has to offer. My blue p is 3 years old, I added a Fender HMV bridge and drilled it (carefully by hand) for string-thru. Don't know exactly why I like string thru but all my faves have always been string-thru, both guitars and basses. I like the idea of the strings being anchored in the wood. I also put the pickup and bridge covers on, got them from Darren Riley. The bridge cover is a tight fit because of the size of the bridge; these are designed for the vintage 51 style bridge. Pickup cover is also not a perfect fit because the VC uses a modern p body and the original slab bodies are bigger. I always thought I'd replace the pickup with a Duncan Antiquity II but it really sounds good as is; everyone I play with likes the tone.
Just picked up a James Johnston signature Jazz which is based on the CV. Just a sucker for blue and for painted headstocks. This one will get an American Deluxe bridge to allow the bridge cover to fit (CV high mass is too big). Also replacing the controls with Volume-Blend-Tone. I like to set the pickup balance and then control the overall volume, twiddling two knobs at once is too fussy. Lots of good advice on these forums on how to wire that up! You can pretty much re-create the look of a Fender American Vintage 1964 Jazz for a fraction of the $$.

Last week-end i picked up a CV 60's precision in fiesta red. First, i need to say, that the finish is amazing, it shines like on other basses i had.
It feels great, it's light and the hardware is way better than tought.
The maple grain on the neck is also one of the best i have seen. It is amazing
I like it very much.
I have a few concerns dough. I know it's supposed to sound vintage but i never heard a bass that vintage sounding. There's mot much clarity even with the tone pot all the way opened. 2 days ago i installed new d'addario strings, it's slightly better but it's not up to my taste
Yesterday, i installed a very rare custom shop 59 precision pickup i had on hand. Wow! So much better. Now, it is still vintage sounding but with a certain edge and better clarity.
I'm still not a 100% satisfied, i find the 20mm spacing at the bridge + the P neck width, a little to wide for my taste. I'm used to jazz neck and standard spacing. That is just personal prefence.
I also have to say that i normally prefer ash body and Maple fretboard. I know i'm picky!!!
When i went to buy the strings, i tried a squier VM modified with Maple body and neck and i really like it, tonewise it is more of what i'm looking for.
I'll really like the CV, it's really a great instrument. I just prefer different tonewood.

Welcome to the club. I have the same bass for a half a year now. Love the neck. Glossy but not sticky. Nice sound on stock pickups as well! Only annoying thing I've got - a little bit of a ramp at the heel - but seems like it is well known Fender/Squier issue with the necks (a.k.a. S-curve). If it ever start to bother me any harder - will try fret leveling.

Congratulation on a fine first bass. IMHO (as someone who owns a single coil 51ri P, love the bass hate the hum in certain venues) you made a wise choice.
Hi there, I'm part of the CV familiy again, after I've sold both my precis (CV50s and CV60s). I just got a James Johnston Jazzi, which is part of the CV family as well.
It's a really nice instrument with nothing to bother about. I like the matching headstock

I've been regularly gigging my FR 60s CV for a while. Great sound. She's wearing GHS Boomers.
Light, huge sounding, and red. All stock except for the jack (Switchcraft).
My 'spare' basses usually sit at the back of the stage. They're be flashier and have lovely wood finishes, but they're heavy and just can't growl like the CV.
