Squier Classic Vibe Club (Part 3)

View attachment 4842627 View attachment 4842625

My 2022 Classic Vibe made in China arrived today. The stock strings are rubbish but this is a fabulous bass. The pickups are great, beautiful neck and old school P sound once I restringed her. Definitely a great backup for my more expensive P basses.
Nice score!
The neck looks fantastic, they got the tint just right.
The older China CV neck maple were too white looking, and my 2019 Indo CV is too dark/amber.
It really does look like it's quarter-sawn.
I looked at a number of them on Sweetwater and they don't look quarter-sawn so that one was a great find.
Poplar body (nice) and Indian Laurel fretboard which seems to be tinted to look like rosewood (nice).
I even think the tort looks pretty good.
This bass looks better than the Indo made ones and I thought those were pretty good.

The pickups sound great too, are they the same as the Indo CV’s or dfferent?

I think pickups, electronics, tuners and bridges are provided by FMIC to factories. They are probably the same.
The bridge and tuners are both terrible though, I wouldn't keep them. The saddles never stay into position and the threads are so small that you can't set the string where you want without having them moving around.

The difference in quality is insane, where did you find this one? Everything on Sweetwater seems to be 2021/2020.

Fender has used tort pickguards on so many different finishes for so long that I have to wonder whether they have some kind of turtle fetish or something. Maybe they need to hire a fashion consultant. Surely they could've come up with a better alternative for Daphne Blue than tort.
Tort can look nice but the faux ones look rough. White/mint looks great on the daphne

Somehow, I missed this thread when I posted in the Fender P-Bass Club...but this is more appropriate :)

I picked up this CV60's Limited Run Sonic Blue P-Bass from GC the other day and OMG I can't believe how killer this is...not even just "for the price."

I did swap the pickguard today (personally think it should come with a tort guard) and put in a Puretone input jack because I've been curious about them.

I normally dislike tort on blue (see the bass just above this one, as to why), but that is a really classy looking little number. Nicely done!
Ok so I deleted the post so your poor eyes don’t have see it . Oh and your opinion means nothing to me you just sound like a jerk raining on someone’s new bass day . Thanks for that I’m outta this “ club “ . Never seen the amount of snobbery I have seen in this one .

I'm reasonably sure there is a big difference between snobbery, and having a differing opinion on something. I didn't remotely hate on you or your instrument (in fact, I'd expect it plays and sounds pretty good), I merely said I didn't like the colour scheme. I suggest you cool your jets just a bit here, boss.

I do love me some tort but I've grown to really like an aged pearl pickguard with black plastics on Daphne.

I think one of the more popular pop/punk guys from the 90s and 2000s had that as his primary bass or at least the bass I think of. Made me do my Daphne strat in a similar theme and normally I wouldn't put pearloid on anything.

I'm a little the opposite. I have vintage pearl on two Teles and two basses......so far. Kinda like that old vintage retro mother of toilet seat look. It matches my personality.

perhaps it's a numbers game most likely.

I doubt there are highly specialized pickguard manufacturers in the world capable of keeping up with the demand from Fender. But I'd bet it's dirt cheap to order (and manufacture) millions of the same 2 shapes in 5 different colors to meet demand.
