Well, Sweetwater will be getting more, (they are indeed out of stock for right now) you'll just have to wait another couple of weeks. If you're in that much of a hurry, you could get it from Musician's Friend.

I think I got the last one they had in stock. Gotta love being able to see the one you're going to get before they send it! They give you the serial# AND the weight, and then perform a 45-point checkup and setup to make sure it's ready-to-play right out of the box. Can't say enough good things about my Sweetwater experience, and the individual customer service I got from Tyler Berggren, my Sales Engineer!

I just wanted to say, my Sonic Blue 60's P is probably number 2 on my list of favorite basses I've ever owned and number 1 as far as Precisions go.
But I still can't help but think about selling or trading it! I think I have chronic GAS!

My advice is to put a mint pickguard and Fender knobs on that puppy. You will lose all desire to sell.

Finally got a sonic! Not going to bother with a pic because we all know what they look like. It's about 2009?
A few dings but otherwise fine; I don't have to get uptight about being the first one to put a ding on it. The clear has a nice aged yellowing to it.
After a cleaning, new Pressurewounds, a setup and spending some time playing I gotta say i love the neck. Much thinner than the 50's P: feels more like my VMJ neck.
Slipped some more foam under the pups. Gotta pull the pg and solder the intermittent output and Deoxit the pots, but waiting for my aged cream pearl pg to come. Proper knobs and its a done deal. Excellent bass!

Thanks. Mods, schmods . These don't need a thing IMO. The pearl pg is just a classy dress up and is 17 bucks from Hong Kong: my second pg from the seller and they are excellent quality.
Stock tuners are the same as my 50's P and are very good quality.
I don't buy into the "cheap pots" line. IME they are just fine. Same goes for the jacks, they are just fine. As for pups, you can't test drive them before buying so you may just be tossing bux out the window. The stick are excellent as is.

I always change the tuners on Squiers and Mexicans off the flip...
they may be 'fine' for some folks...but I'm a pretty rough player. Hard.
only bass that I'm leaving completely stock is my AVRI (except for strap locks) and this 60 Anniversary P I'm looking to get.
other than that, it's open season on mods, lol

... so what did Sweetwater give you for a weight on it, and have you received it yet, and can you verify its accuracy?
Sorry, I don't remember the weight posted in the original "Guitar Gallery" that showed my future bass. I can't weigh it at the moment, as I have it apart to copper shield the cavities, and install my new SDQP pickup, and then some Fender 9050CL flats.
Weight has not been an issue for me (despite my multiple back and neck surgeries), as I am a novice bass player looking 60 in the face, and don't really expect to be playing out in the near future. I play at home for my own amusement.
If I ever get good enough to play with others, I will most likely excuse my disabilities, and play seated anyway. Tone (to my novice ears) will always trump weight.
After all, if you check my sig, you'll see a Peavey T-40 listed. I CAN tell you the weight on that one. I lucked out and got one that was only 11.2 pounds! That must be a result of the missing finish on most of the body!

Wow that 50's P bass looks great! What is the pine body like? Is it heavy, hard, soft ect? I am also thinking about the basswood LPB which I like as well. Since I know nothing about pine as a body wood. I also like the CV 60's P in Fiesta Red too. The covers on these 50's and 60's versions really make them pop IMO.
In my experience, the pine body seems to have gotten heavier with time (and I haven't had it for long either! A year aproximately). Regarding how soft it is, I often bang my bass against walls and guitars and whatnot but I have only gotten a few dents here and then and the usual buckle marks on the back of it. Pine is very bright if you ask me, however, with the SDQP it balances out the lows pretty tight. Not to mention the pickup itself is only around $70 USD

If you don't mind my asking, where did you find a cream pearl pg for $15.00? I have an "amber" Precision I was thinking about putting one on, but I haven't found one for anything less than $28.00 so far.
