It is foil shielded over the control cavity but not over to the pickup like the stock pg. however I've not noticed any ill effects. Easy thing to remedy though if needed.
I'm pretty happy that the cv 60''s p has the same screw pattern as an American. I don't think the 50's cv p does though. One guy here bought an American pg and it took some jostling to get it on. I think I'd like a black pearl on my 50's blonde; like i have on my VMJ.

Anyone swap the black pickguard on their butterscotch CV 50's P for something tortoise? If so, did you find an easy replacement or did you get a custom one or make one yourself?
EEWWW. I would never. The black is perfect for that bass, tort would look just yuk on it. (IMO)
Anyway, if you're bound and determined to, I suspect you will likely have to get one custom made, I don't know anyone sells anything close to that style of PG. Jeannie's pickguards comes highly recommended.
Hmmm...may have to do a little PhotoShop testing to see if anything other than black might look good. That said, was just curious if anyone else had swapped in a new PG and if so was there anything that worked. I figured I'd either have to buy a sheet of PG material and figure out how to make my own or send it off to a place to have one made.

lots of info and pics posted on this CV 50's single coil P in the nat finish ... but I have not seen any where the pickguard is off .. possible for someone who has it, to post a pic of the routing/or lack of routing on the body please .. also interested to hear some fairly accurate weights on these natural finish 50's P's as well .. thank you
That looks like the same single-ply white guard that came standard on the LPB CVP50s model. It should be an identical match, for those who wish to change to white from the original black on their "butterscotch" finish model.
Most aftermarket pick guard makers can take your original and make a new one out of any material they currently produce. IME the "custom" price is the same no matter what size or color you choose. Some even will make one from a "tracing" of your original if you can't afford the downtime to wait while they use it for a match.
Personally, I would probably send the original in, just to be sure there are no differences between a tracing and the original.
How does it fair in a heavy rock/metal scene? Mine does just fine in my bands, but the guitars are hardly ever as hi-gain
It really kicks! Every band we've played with since I got it has commented on how great it sounds.
People at the shows have mentioned it as well.
It cuts through really well, and carry's a lot.
I play with a pick, do a lot of chords and single note "shred guitar" style runs.
I have installed a SD Quarter Pounder, and I play through a Mesa M9 Carbine into a Mesa PH 4x10 and a Mesa PH 1x15.
My CV '60s P is a consistent winner. It stays in tune for days and looks stunning. I changed the pick guard to mint green, swapped the small chrome knobs for a Jazz Bass volume and tone, and put on D'Addario Half Rounds. It was a restock online, so I got it for about $275 "new". Unbeatable!
Your Fiesta with Mint looks great, I have a 60's CV in Sonic Blue and I put a Mint Green guard on it and it looks fantastic. I am a big fan of Mint Green guards.
Got my 60's Precision a while ago. My only complaint is that its appearance doesn't really suit a heavy metal band, cause it plays and sounds incredible, even with the dead Fender rounds that came with it still on there after about a year. I should really get some new strings for this. It's become my go to bass since getting it. I've contemplated getting set of EMG PX or Seymour Duncan Steve Harris pickups but the stock ones do a stand up job. I might still change them out somewhere down the line but for the time being they're perfectly good.

It's since seen a new Ernie Ball strap (which is insanely long at its max length), some Dunlop "strap locks" which are basically those Grolsch beer bottle washers, and some super glue to keep the back strap button in place. I took the tugbar off as it just got in the way.

I bought one as well. I just cant get over the bright white gaurd, it makes it look cheap even though the rest of the bass looks fantastic. I also have no use for a finger rest so it eliminates that without leaving holes visible which bugs me.
I have a Mark Hoppus in Daphne blue ( close to sonic) and a friend said wow that pickguard looks great ( its a pearl guard) compared to the white one on your other blue bass and well I agree.
It was either pearl or mint. I cant stand the look of tort on sonic.
