I use snaller 12 volt 23A Batteries instead of 9 v batteries to put in the control cavity.
People usually mix up electrostatic and electromagnetic noise. The former results in a "buzz", generally, the second results in a "hum", it can be the 50/60 Hz hum but also a lot of different frenquencies. And the copper/aluminium we put in our cavities, it prevents from electrostatic buzz. If you have too much hum, you need humbuckers.

I'm curious, too, especially how it'll sound when the extreme ends of the EQ are zeroed-out.
I’m dying for a p bass with flats but not looking to spend a lot. After 35 plus years of overspending on gear these little gems have caught my ear. I found a used 60’s online and hope to get it soon.

I never thought of it that way and I call myself an electronics tech. That's the reason I've never thought there was any reason to shield the cavity to get rid of hum and now I know why. It may help but that 50 or 60 hz hum is going to effect a single coil to some extent anyway.
I use the Seymour Duncan Custom Shop Stacked SCPB Pickup and it's Bad-Ass ! It blows away all the side by side SCPB pickups. Both Sting and Dusty Hill use it also. It's a 4 wire so you can cut the bottom coil to get the slightly thumpier tone along with the hum also.
That's a nice pickup indeed! And yes, overwound pickups tend to hum even more because they catch more of the low-frequency 50/60 Hz hum. Any distortion will bump up these frequencies, unless you use a high-pass filter. On guitars it can work out, but on the bass, you'll lack something.
I hope that my explainations were true but I think they are. Anyway in a house, the wires of the electrical installations are all around ourselves, it would be hard to "air-stop" these electromagnetic signals.
I use Stacks, Split coils or Active EMG's in my Basses. I hate traditional side by side Humbuckers on Basses. They all sound muddy to me.
This heavily modded 50's CV has an Active EMG 35TW that comes w/ a Push/Pull Pot for Dual Coil(Humbucker) Mode and Stacked Single Coil Mode. It's very versatile but I rarely use it in Dual Coil Mode as the Single Coil Mode is much tighter, IMO. I have the Push/Pull Pot wired so that it's in Single Coil Mode in the down position. I do use the humbucking mode on a few slow blues songs that need a cleaner tone. I run very dirty but the Sansamp cleans right up by rolling the Volume pot off a little.

@EdBo where are you finding those style pickguards? I've looked but no luck. Liking the purple pearl tort, would look good on my white Mike Dirnt.
Got tired of waiting for my used CV 60’s to ship so I ordered a new 70’s from Sweetwater.
We will see which one gets here first . The only mod I plan on making is putting on a set of LaBella 760FLs.
