Pickguardian is the place. They quoted me the lowest price, and I sent them my original PG for a template. I had them back in less than two weeks. The new one turned out just the way I envisioned it. I had to shave off a very small amount in the control plate cutout for a correct fit, other than that everything else lined up perfectly.

ProfGumby :

Yes it won't matter because people will not change their minds and will find excuses for not being able to spot which is which, but it's still quite funny to see the results of such tests.

Here's my CV Jazz :

Please give me a number :)

Oh yea, I love the results too! And FWIW, I can run out and buy an MIA tomorrow if I want....but I love what I have now, and every bass I have feels good and sounds good or it goes or never follows me home in the first place.

BTW, I swapped the nut on my CV and the thwip is gone baby gone! The nut slot was considerably wider where the B string sat in the top 1/2 of the slot.

And add to that the CV nut is flat across the bottom so I will have to put something in the slot under the nut as I got a pre formed Tusq nut for a Fender jazz bass. Go figure...
:D

Not questioning your taste, just interested in your reasons for choosing the top hat knobs.

Great overall mod theme...best I've seen yet.:bassist:

I put some D'Addario EXL180s (.035 to .095) on my Squier CV 60s Jazz last night. I am so much happier with these than with the Chromes that I had on. The bass really came alive! I'm glad that I experimented with flats but they really just aren't the string for me.

The new rounds really sparked a new interest in this bass for me. I think I may actually go ahead and wire up the kill switch I've been wanting for a while now. One of these days... :)

I've been thinking of doing the same thing.....my reasons are to get a line on the knobs so I can tell where I am from min to max on volume and tone, and to lighten the bass a bit from the heavier metal knobs.

But I think it looks cool, too..... :D

I wanted to buy this Classic Vibe neck and put it on a jazz bass because i love these necks! but it wont work i have been told because it has a square heel like this ] and jazz bass have a neck pocket like this ) , am i correct? here is the classic vibe 50's neck in question.

Ya, that is only with that CV model. The Jazz basses have the same neck pocket as any Fender now does...I am pondering, and will most likely change out the standard rosewood FB CV Jazz neck for a blocked or bound and blocked rosewood jazz neck....I am really digging the Fender necks with the bullet truss rod....
