Squier Deluxe Dimension Bass (IV & V string)

Depending on where it shipped from, temperature and/or humidity changes could have effected your intonation by making slight changes to the wood. After 10 days your new bass would have more time to adjust to its home conditions. Battery life on most newer active guitars is easily more than a year, with most people seeming to recommend twice yearly battery changes.

I cant help to much here, I have the American Deluxe Dimension V HH and I love everything about it, the shape, the neck, the sound IMHO its the best Fender bass out there, Said ducking low waiting for the barrage of abuse lol lol

Hahaha! Joybass, I did the same thing like 2 days ago (Help - My Dimension bass WON'T STOP GROWLING!!!), with a set of D'Addario nickelwounds and the difference is absolutely remarkable.

I just picked mine up used for $250, and it is in awesome shape. The neck is a bit wider than I thought it would be but it is manageable. The tone possibilities are amazing.

Just thought I'd mention in the home thread that I have a squier dimension 4 in the classifieds for $200 + shipping. It's all stock except I replaced the bridge with a Fender vintage threaded saddle unit.

Still a huge fan of mine. The neck feels perfect, not had a problem with it, strung it with half-round strings and back to rounds with no issues at all (intonation etc all still spot on), and it just sounds fantastic. I nearly spent £900+ on a different bass, after convincing myself I need "more" than a Squier again, but ultimately couldn't justify it. Didn't feel anything from it I didn't already have with the Dimension.

I'm considering putting an active/passive switch in it, but I'm still not sure I'll bother. Excellent stock instrument.

Resurrecting this one. Just picked this up on Reverb after reading through all the amazing reviews in this thread and on TB in general. I was looking to pick up an inexpensive 5 string and was considering a Squier VM 70's before I remembered the Deluxe Dimension. As I waited for it to show up, I tried to check the expectations a bit, knowing full well that it likely couldn't be as good as all that.

Well, no need. This is a really great bass, especially considering it's used. There's a weird blemish above the pickup but for $199, I'm not gonna complain because the preamp sounds really good and, as others have said, quiet.

I think it has the Fender 8250 strings on it (gray silks and tapered). I have a set of D'addario NYXL's ready to install but these seem pretty good yet. Intonation is good and the action is setup really low. Very easy to play. I'm very pleased.

Sub-$200 is a great price for this model, especially as 5 string. How do you find the B string so far?

Still playing my Dimension at every practice, every gig, and 95% of the time I play at home. The neck feels perfect for me, and it's the only active bass I've owned that I really like with drive pedals. I've had it long enough that I've got an urge to buy a new bass, but that feeling goes away when I pick this up.

B string is solid. I'm actually quite impressed with the tension on it and how clear it is. I haven't historically been a fan of 5 string basses because 1) Many amps can't handle the low B -and- 2) The one's I've played leave me wanting. Those low notes are hard to handle and yet this seems to manage them well. Articulate and punchy, whether using my fingers or a pick.

And it does sound killer through my Aftershock distortion pedal!

Congratulations! I have the same one and I still am very happy with it. Seems like we have collector's items now, since they killed the 5-string Crimson Reds!
Mine came with the Fender 72505M strings. Haven't changed them yet. I like to set the EQ at Treble flat, Middle -75% and Bass flat for a likable mellow sound. With Middle flat or in the plus range the sound becomes really 'in your face', which can be useful too at times. The B string can get thunderous when it is too close to the pickup. I have raised the B-string saddle a bit. Overall: killer bass!

As to the blemish: looks like a litte discoloration in the wood. Look at it as an unique feature, an opportunity to bond with your bass ;-).

I am still a Squier Dimension fan, but I let mine go since I was gifted with some killer Peavey Forum Five basses, and I bought a Lakland DJ5. That said, the Squier Dimension has great electronics and a seriously good B string along with a nice wide spaced neck. It is certainly worth buying for someone looking for a low cost five string bass.
