Nice! I think I might grab the white pearl one from reverb! How'd it fit? Need any modding?
YES to the black pickguard screws!! They are on the shopping list.
The one I got fit great with no mods. I did have to unscrew the control plate to shift it a tiny bit, though. (Screw holes still lined up just fine on both the control plate and the pickguard.)
Unrelated to the pickguard, shifting the control plate revealed a loose connection (?) in there somewhere. It lost a lot of volume and sounded very muffled. I just jiggled it a little until the sound came back as a temporary fix. So I think I will need to take a good look at the wiring and if nothing wrong is readily apparent, I'll take it in to get it looked at. Any thoughts on specific things I should be looking for? Bad solder points, loose wires... What else could cause that?

How was the fit? Did you have to do anything other than screw it in place? I've been thinking of getting the Tort guard ever since I bought my Jag!
The fit was perfect! I did have to unscrew the control plate to shift it a tiny bit so that everything was snug together. But it only had to shift such a tiny amount all the screw holes in the pick guard and control plate still lined up perfectly.
Have reverted back to the original pickups on my Jag bass, sometimes the stock pickups are the best. Tried seymour duncans which had way too much mids , then tried the stock p with a wilkinson j pickup, the wilkinson was just kind of meh, now have the stock p and j pickups and it is the best this bass has sounded by far. The low output j pickup works just fine and gives a nice rounded mellow vintage tone
The magnet mod doesn't cost much and gives you more options. Although I do agree its best with the P pickup heavy.
Now look what you have done. Just placed an order through Reverb, can't wait to see how it looks on my Silver Jag SS!
Interesting, I have 2 unused jazz bridge pickups (1 wilkinson and 1 seymour duncan) if I removed the magnet on the bottom of one of the pickups and used that for the mod would that work?
Ok tried the magnet mod, it made the bridge pickup louder but i didn't like the fact that i could no longer adjust the pickup height due to having to remove the pickup foam because of the extra depth added by the magnet so i ended up reverting back to stock

Used it this weekend on a gig and it sounded so good. Might be my main squeeze for a very long time. So easy to play. Number please!!
I'm a BIG fan of Barts. I've got them in pretty much all of my basses. At first I was concerned about it making the tone too dark / muddy but it isn't at all. Dark. Warm clarity with some punch. LOVE the P pickup. Bridge isn't quite as strong / punchy as I'd like but it's still better than the stock pickup imho.

I like the bridge cover, I put an early P bass one on mine so I wouldn't have to remove it to change strings. I do like the look though.

You know what as I only tried the Quarter pound jazz with the SD Hot p pickup I am curious and may try the Quarter pound jazz with the stock P pickup, anybody tried this combo? how did it work out?
I got mine before the magnet mod was published. I just put a DiMarzio DP-126 set in and called it a night. Very happy with that decision.
