Thanks for the wiring diagram, sounds like a great idea because this fretless bass needs a little more drive/tone....I'm going to play around with my chorus effects tonight now that I have learned a couple songs to see if I can make it sound full/big rather than flat.

I would like to see your switch location...and...this bass has been purchased to first learn how to play a fretless, second is for modifications to improve its sound quality.

Here is a in between pic. the after pic i forgot. i wanted to play the damn thing. but that extra hole is where the toggle switch went. as you can see i rotated one of the cts pots because it would.t fit. mind your connections if you are going to use big pots like cts and want the same placing for your switch.

Here's my '96 Squier Pro-Tone P/J.
I love it, it's my main player. I actually like it more than my MusicMan.
Go figure.

VM Jazz '77 with Dimarzio DP123 set and wilkinson bridge. Soon there is going to be a change of electronics (CTS Pots, orange drop cap and switchcraft jack) :hyper:

The previous owner had the squier logo removed and a Fender installed. I liked better the original squier logo but that's ok...

Squier Owners Club

I am not aware of an "Official" Club for us squier owners.
While many say "meh" to the lesser of fender's domian, I say the're great first basses and many of us have held on to ours! (Ill have some pics up of my first bass, an MB-4, soon)

I'll take a number if you're giving them. I still have my first bass, a squire P, and I love it and I'm sure I'll have it till the day I die. It's sentimental to me due to the fact it's my first bass I bought with my own money back when I was 19 and just moved out on my own. I went through a long period of not playing it thinking it didn't have any balls. This is even after I put EMG's in it. Mostly because I didn't have a powerful amp for a long time. But I acquired a powerful amp last year full of tone and it breathed new life into my love for my P. I play it a lot more now and I can't get enough of the tone I get out of it :)

As gets repeated about once per page in this thread there are no numbers in this "club". It seems to be an overly repeated thing here for some reason. It was just mentioned a few posts above your post on the same page. I've never understood why "club numbers" are so important anyhow. It's pretty funny sometimes ... I've seen some members' signatures that have all of these club memberships stacked up like some sortof merit badges. I guess I don't understand the club number mentality. I've always been the odd screw in the box anyhow so it really shouldn't be any kind of surprize to anyone that I don't get it. Haahaa!

IMO that's what it is, what you just said, sort of like a merit badge. For me, it lets people know what my main passions are and or what gear I have/own/dig/play. When someone sees that I'm part of the ATK club it could warrant them to maybe ask me something about ATK's as opposed to posting a thread that's already been done before. I like my list of clubs. Different strokes different folks.

Sorry, didn't mean to annoy you with another inquiry about getting a number. I get what you're saying though.

I purchased a Squier VM Jazz, natural finish about 8 months ago, and I love the playing characteristics of this bass. But for all that so many of you love the stock sound, IMHO it sounds like ASS. I can't get anything out of this thing that doesn't sound like a distorted, harsh, tinny mess or, with the treble rolled off, like a pit of gooey mud.

I finally pulled the trigger on the Dimarzio DP123 Model J / VVT Control Panel kit. Install was dead easy, although you should be aware that the instructions don't specify wiring up the bridge and shield grounds, so make sure you do that if you go this route.

So far it sounds much improved through my headphones but I'll know the real story through my amp after rehearsal tonight.
