Ok, consider my question answered here ;)

I just picked this off of ibanezcollector, spent some time getting the action really low, and granted there are a few things I got minor concerns about, it feels awesome. Nice wide and semi slim neck (I think the am deluxes and CS are thicker) and a decent weight, it just feels really fast now. The sound is decent, but I have been waiting for a decent feeling cheap jazz 5er with .75 spacing at the bridge cause I got some fralin 5 single coils with no home, and just ordered an audere jz3.

I think I am gonna rock the squier for a while.

Not a fretless, but a fretted. The VM blew the SX out of the water playability wise - felt a lot better quality neck...and I do own the SX :(

In regards to the above: fill in the old holes with wood putty if they're close to the new ones. Drill a pilot hole to help prevent the wood from splitting when you put the screws in. What's under the pickguard is seen by nobody but the repair guy... and on a Squier, that should be you :)

I'll try and word this carefully. After putting in the fralins and the audere, I can safely say the sound is killing on this thing (duh). So not only does it really feel fast as hell (imo, faster than any of the AM 5ers I have felt), but the sound is killing, and the B is really pretty good.

It REMINDS me of some sadowsky metros I have played. All the little details as good as a sadowsky? no way! But that is not what I am after, after a good jazz with a spanking sound with a thin wider neck (reason I don't like the am deluxes) that I can just rip up. action is like at .070-.090 (I see this on my stew mac measuring tool for string height, is this centimeters?) and there is really no buzz or dead frets.

In short, a <500 super jazz. As good as a valenti or something? Definitely not, but that is in details, and playability and sound wise, it's near the best super js I have played.

now, i just have to find where I can get a black pearloid PG for this.

I'm trying to dix up the P bass Plus or whatever they call it that I mentioned eearlier in the thread.

I've already got the replacement p'ups and bridge. But the pickguard I wanted isn't available. Where can I get seriously nonstandard P bass-ish pickguards?

In this case I was hoping for a pink tie-dye pickguard. (It's for a 13 year old girl.) but the stock that WD had in that color is too small to make a P 'guard. What's close?

What our keyboardist did for his daughter was to make a clear p/g and put a designer paper underneath, between the shielding and the guard. That way she could change the pattern and colour whenever she wished. She loves it.

Haha man that's quite an idea. I guess I'll try doing something like that when I decide to get a new pickguard. Thing is, though, I can't decide if I should get a Fender-ish 13-hole one or keep the Squier pride alive by keeping it the same...

How about the MII P-bass Special? Which pickguards will fit that? It LOOKS like a regular P bass pickguard to me. But I'm much more of a J-bass guy, so I don't think I know well enough to be sure.

I''m still trying to make it 'cool' for my daughter so she'll take up bass. I was going to try to give her the pink tie-dye pickguard. Apparently they dont make it big enough. Now I'm wanting to get a clear one and put a page of comics underneath it.

My old Squire Bronco with the full size tuners, Seymour Duncan Hotrails wired straight to the jack. Shortscale? Yep
Rock Hard? Yep. Still get's a lot of play time. Plus it's my only bass with a hard case, so when the phone rings it's usually what I grab to run out the door to jam. Oh yea, I also play with a pick ALL the time. Flamesuit is on, fire away.
