Also did my first mod. I added Hipshot tuners with a drop D. Of course changed the strings out to Fender flats which I'm really diggin !!!

Well I've had an Affinity Jazz V since July but three days ago my brother and I went hog-wild at Guitar Center. He bought a Squier Standard Stratocaster and I bought a used 2002 Squier Affinity Precision bass 20th Anniversary edition for $100. Strung it up with Chromes and it's on its way to Thumpville. I really love Squier instruments!!!

I have those two basses!! A black Affinity Jazz V and a Baltic Blue Affinity P!! Really great basses :D Rock on!!

PS: Side story. My Jazz V is black, like your P, and my first bass 4 years ago was a Red (like your Jazz V) Precision! Good times.

Great axe. I love it stock, but frankly, the tuners could use an upgrade (and probably the pickups too...). Any ideas where I can find direct replacement parts? It's MII, so I didn't know if there were different measurements for the components.

Can I join this fine club with my nearly acquired MIK P-bass. Bought second-hand for £99, not sure on year of manufacture though. Anyway of finding out? Had white pickguard and silver hardware, got it home and changed it to all black hardware and pickguard. Much sexier IMO, and plays really nicely. What do you think?

Looking at the headstock of your bass,the serial number starts with an S. If so what what i found out on the Web it was made by Samick in 1989.
I also have a Korean made Squire Precision with an S serial number,a great bass to play in my own opinion better than the Affinity series.

Wow! That old? I thought possibly 5/7 years tops. It's in great condition for it's age. Me thinks I got a steal for this bass. I have seen older Squiers demanding high prices on eBay and I paid £99, cheers man. :bassist:

Yes i thought the same when i read that,i thought that mine was made around the mid 90's.
My girlfriend paid £90 for mine,and when you look at how much the Affinity & the Standard Squiers are,then the Korean made ones are a steal if you can find one. I would definatly look for another one.

I bought a Squire VM fretless jazz bass about two weeks ago and have hardly put it down. I've been a guitar player for years (misguided, I know) and have now gone nuts for the bass. I don't even have an amp yet, so have been playing acoustically, and loving the sound. This bass sounds great unplugged, which is always a good sign. I have ordered a Bass Buddy, which I'm told will arrive a 7 days or so, and will use it with headphones at home (with play-along CDs) and as a preamp with the band PA. Hope to one day get a good quality bass amp as well. I am playing jazzfunkblues.

I also have a Squire Classic Vibe Strat - an unbelievable guitar for the price - which I put through a Cornell Romany amp - a real quality amp. I've learned to spend 80 per cent of my budget on the amp/preamp, and 20 per cent on the guitar. Most people do it the other way round, but with Squires going so cheap for such great quality, I can spend more on the amp.

I've been tempted to buy one this past year because I love the looks and feel of it. The ones I've played were more robust (a nice way to say 'heavy') than standard p-basses which certainly is far from being a deterrent in my book. The only reason I keep shying away from buying it is because it sounds a little too muddy for my needs. But if you like the mudbucker sound, then you can't go wrong with Squier's VM Precision TB.
