Squier "Perfect Fit Replacement Parts" Mega thread

Where did you buy the pickguard, and what was the manufacturer? Can you show us a picture?

I don't know who the manufacture is but i got it off E bay(Choppers music) and got it for 99 cents.Fits pertty good, not perfect,a small gap by the control plate, but for the cost I can't complain. If I could figure how to post a pic I would. In the begining of this thread there is a pic of one with the same pic guard that I have. L.P.

I think I got a pic

Has anyone changed out the control plate on a VM Jazz ? I am blacking out mine, Black Pearl PG,black PG screws, black knobs, black bridge, black straplocks, and black string guide so far. I'd like to do the control plate too, so let me know if Fender control plates fit before I trim this new pickguard to fit the Squier control plate.

Well it's time to revive this dead thread. Here's the recent work on my VM Jazz. I just installed a Black Pearl PG, Black screws, bridge, straplocks, control plate and new knobs. I've seen quite a few questions on this and other threads regarding what pickguard to buy and how does it fit, so I'll post a few pics and try to answer the questions.

The top picture shows how much you need to remove from a standard jazz pickguard for it to fit the VM Squier Bass (ignore the silver paint near the control plate area)

the bottom pic shows the stock VM Jazz PG layed over the top of the Fender Standard Jazz PG

^^ I've been wanting to see what the 70's VM Jazz would look like with the black pearl pickguard. Thanks for posting that! The last picture doesn't do it justice -- it looks like the original pickguard is on there.

Could you please take a few more pictures, perhaps from a slight angle so that we can better appreciate it with less reflection from the flash?

Thanks a bunch for posting that...looking forward to more if you can.

I don't recall if I already posted this, but I have a the Squier VM FL Jazz and I replaced the bridge with an inexpensive Wilkinson bridge with brass saddles. It's a perfect fit and very much worth the $30 and the minutes I spent on the upgrade.

I'm thinking a pickguard would be nice, but I'm, not sure which color to go for, I'm leaning towards a black 3-layer, but tortoise or white are also to be considered. Since I haven't seen anyone post a link for a perfect fit pick guard, I'll try the cheapest one I can find on the bay. I'll let you know how it goes...
