Squier "Perfect Fit Replacement Parts" Mega thread

So here's what my VM Jazz looked like when I got it (note the previous owner had re-badged it to be labeled Fender):

Since then I've blacked it out almost completely:
  • changed the pickguard screws to black
  • changed the knobs to black; used a smaller one for tone, like a Jazz should have.
  • added a Gotoh 201 black bridge; then later replaced the Gotoh saddles with multi-ribbed ones from Fender (because the string/pole alignment was not perfect). Pity these are not black also. Note: Had to open the bridge holes to use the Fender screws for the saddles; used the black Gotoh springs to help hide that.
  • changed the string tree to black
  • changed the tuners to black Hipshot HB7's

I'm pretty happy with the way it turned out:

Sometimes I think I should have gotten a black control plate and maple knobs, though.

And then there's Black Beauty strings...

Hmm...maybe I'm not done!

I'm getting there.

I got the black screws, the black Gotoh 201, I also have the black Fender 70's series pickups.

Let me completely recommend the 70's series pickups.

They are some of the best jazz pickups on the market.

Think Marcus Miller, only better.

These pickups sound better than the ones in my MM.

If I still had my MM I would put these pickups in it...

I have the 70's reissue Jazz pickups in my fretted VM. Right you are. GREAT pickups. I put them in with CTS pots and a Switchcraft jack. Very noticeable difference.

I think with all the pickup options available folks often over look Fender.

I have a P bass with a Fender '57 reissue pickup.

It just about the perfect P Bass pickup...

I've checked the squier vintage modified fretted and it seems that it has standard pickup routing (dimensions equal to USA version), so I think that it could be valid also for the fretless brother

I have still doubt about the P special (PJ) because in the pictures it seems having a smaller bridge pickup, do you confirm this?
it's very important for my project to know this, thanks
