Squier "Perfect Fit Replacement Parts" Mega thread

The BadassIII bridge might work but Rondo has knock off highmass bridges that have the 5-in-a-row holes with an extra 2 holes in the top corners so it can fit both types of basses. I'll trade you my highmass bridge like that for yours. You'd have to make your bass string through and I promise you'll never get low action again :D

What bass is that :O!

and + anyone have details on the squier P/J?
someone said that the Jazz pickup was a little small for a batarloni

will a Seymour Duncan STK-J2 fit?
I have also been looking for replacement tuners anyone know the size without drilling it to be bigger? (its standard series btw)
My future mods
- SD Precision Quarter pounder
- STK - J2 for bridge pickups (will it fit?)
- Gotah 201 black
- Black Pickguard (anyone know the size for these)
- CTS pots (once I learn exactly how to change them)

and that's really it, Can't wait to mod this bad boy! :D

So another pickguard-related question. Whoo!

I was looking at this site, and they have some flat-out amazing pickguard options. Invalid Link Removed

For my Squier VM fretless bass, what pickguard model would be the best "fit" (I'm aware I'll have to do some modding, but I've put this thing through a lot worse than just drilling, so that's fine)? I mean, here's the list of models for jazz basses alone: Invalid Link Removed Which one is the VM fretless most closely related to?

I`m having ZERO luck at finding a Squier Affinity P,14 hole pickguard for a 2002 model. Thought I cut a fat hog in the rump when I bought one on ebay for $5 but....*BUUZZZZ* WRONG ANSWER! (yeah, did not even come close to fitting).

I`ve pretty much resigned myself to the fact that I`ll have to custom order my pg but it will be worth the hassel.

You can post a wanted ad on here for one.

Here's something mod related post about my Black Squier Affinity Jazz V. Great bass! I wanted the Oly white, but wasn't available. This is a great playing bass, so I want to keep this one!

I have some Lindy Fralins from another bass, and I'm waiting for my pots/caps to come in. The Fralins should fit fine. The tone is nice now, but a little uneven and I know the Fralins kick.

In the meantime, I've been thinking about doing a refin while waiting on the elex. I've look into it a little. But I'm almost done with stripping my fireplace (over 75 years of paint on the mantle and brick!!). Not sure I want to tackle it or have someone else do it.

If I do it, I'm thinking Reranch Coral. If get it done, I'm going with Capri Orange. Based on the above fireplace/mantle total pain in the grizz, I may go with the professional. Kicker is it'll cost more than the original bass.

Great playing bass though. I think I'd do it for an MIM. Since this is as good or better than the MIM's I've played, I am really thinking about going with the professional refin.

edit: Whatcha think?

Has anyone here put a HipShot A style bridge on an Affinity Jazz V? I'd like to upgrade the bridge on mine but I'm concerned about action not being low enough after I put the HipShot bridge in.

I was hoping to see someone mod one of the Deluxe Active V's.

I picked up one of the black ones a while back and lately have been wanting it a little more "traditional" looking.

I think I'll have to cut my own pickguard, but a regular control plate will be fine.

Also wanting to get a top load bridge.

Will also remove that slap switch, I never use it anyway.

I've had some pretty high end stuff over the last 25 years
and I'm still surprised how much I like this squier. I think
it's worth tossing a little money at to get it cosmetically
exactly how I want it.

I'll post the before and after pics once I get around to doing it.

Great thread...I've learned a good deal already! I have a Squier Affinity P-Bass, made in Indonesia (Cort factory I think) year 2000. I picked it up as a banger bass but have grown quite fond of it (especially the neck) and am looking into upgrades. I've already ordered the Gotoh 201 bridge, am still looking at pickup choices and would also like to replace the tuners (they seem a little loose feeling, especially the G tuner). It seems like Hipshot HB1 or HB7 would be the best choice...has anyone upgrade the tuners on a Squier Affinity P Bass that is around the same age and make? I would like to do no drilling if possible...any direct replacements? I'm not picky about the peg head style as long as it fits easily.
I've given up on replacing the crappy pickguard after reading some of the adventures on here with Squier Affinity pickguards...might look into a custom at some point later on, although the white pickguard/baltic blue finish doesn't look too bad.

So, it turns out that on my '07 Affinity Jazz, built in China, Fender MIM pickguards are a near perfect fit, no drilling of new holes, a nice fit to the control plate, and only minor sanding of the neck pocket.

Like many others, I've been interested in a pickguard for the VM fretless. I haven't done one yet, but I think MIM guards are OK. It fits perfect around the neck and neck pickup, but the problem is the control plate. It has a different shape on the upper point than the standard MIM control plate. Some brave folks here have sanded the guard to fit the existing plate, but my recommendation would be to swap out the existing plate for an MIM plate. This will probably involve drilling new holes for it, but I think that's better than reshaping a pickguard, but YMMY.

I wonder how a MIM guard would work on my amber VM P. I made the mistake of putting on a thumb rest and later changing my mind, and now I have a screw hole that I have to plug with a black anodized screw to hide it. I would like to just get a new guard, but I don't want to pay a premium for a custom made one.

Q-Tuners didn't fit well on my Standard Jazz. I mean, the neck pickup has a wide rout, so there's no problem, but the bridge rout can be very annoying. I had to sand it quite a bit. In the end, I had to push it in seeing as I was losing my patience. Before anyone questions what business I have with putting 320$ custom pickups on a Squier, suck it. It's a work in progress, ha!

I got a brown tort nitro pickguard for my Squier Affinity Jazz V (SAJV) from Roger at Jeannie's Pickguards. He has the template now.

Also, apparently, a US Deluxe Jazz Bass V bridge will fit a Squier Affinity Jazz V if you mount it using the stringthrough holes. Also, a Fender US Standard Jazz V pickguard will fit a SAJV if you drill one new hole.

Not sure how a MIM would fit.

I have a whole squier VM P bass body one of the white ones with pickups etc, just no neck. I was going to sell it, if I part it out further I will sell you the pickguard.

As for now I think I may sell the body with all the parts on it tho.

Good to know he has the template. I went ahead and got the Std J V pickguard for a good price. I'm planning on doing a refinish in early spring next year. (Running out of good temps and baby on the way.)

Gonna drop Fralins in mine with GHS Precision Flats. Been waiting 2 months on the wiring harness - good thing I've been busy doing other things.

Hey all! I have a Squier Standard 5-String Precision bass, ya know, the one with two single-coil Jazz pickups?

Anyway, I want to replace the pickups. The only ones I know of that drop in are Sadowsky, which at $200, cost $50 more than the bass itself! I have a set of Fender MIM Jazz V pickups, but they're too big, and I'd rather not route plastic and wood.

Any drop-in pickups??
