Why are these basses getting sneak-previewed in other countries first?

That VM Jag is really cute though.

In all the 'suggestions' proffered from TB to Fender/Squier on what they should make and should do - I bet they've got some pretty neat aces up their sleeves and are going to dribble these new basses out to stimulate sales and PR in the coming months yet.

That VM Jag is really cute though.

Still - it's frustrating to have this come NOT off the official Squier site: Invalid Link Removed .

That VM Jag is really cute though.

If one were to click on the "New For 2010" in the tree (left side) - it just goes blank. Isn't today - this week - this month part of 2010?

That VM Jag is really cute though.

Here is my smoker...... it was $75 on craigslist, I offered him $50 and he bit! I thought it was a Affinity that I was going to mod to death, but when I picked it up I saw the Duncan Designed. I thought it might be a CV but when I looked it up I found out it was a VM. I got her and she had pick rash really bad... like somebody playing metal with huge strokes... it came off the body easily, but the pickguard I had to steelwool... that was cool so, but I really wanted that "vibe". So I got a tort from Bassplayer437 on ebay (I have always had good experience with this guy) Amazingly, the PG fit with no modification! Slapped a set of chromes I had lying around, got a cover from Angela Instruments, and replaced the Jack with a switchcraft, lightly sanded the back of the neck with some high grit. I am really happy with her. The DD pickups actually sound pretty good. I think i will change the pots to CTS eventually, but all in all I am very very pleased.

Total investment... $86. Enjoy!

After pick marks removed, stealwooled pickguard to remove pick marks.

That VM Jag is really cute though.

dont get upset about that. i just accidentally surfed trough sam ash site and saw this.

those basses are not even imported to israel..
the local and official fender distributer does not import all the interesting stuff from fender and squier.
i bought my vm jazz and other basses from ebay and payed shipping and taxes.

From the initial (even tho a small sample) response I've seen, this could be Squier's next big seller. With the P-J p'ups and simplified stacked knob control scheme, it's entirely possible this could do better than Fender's recently discontinued Jag bass. It should be interesting to see.

From: Fender c/o another site:::

Letter from fender (Maybe?):

Hello,

Thanks for your interest in the New Squire Jaguar Bass.It seems that some pre-release information has been leaked via the USA.

Unfortunately we are unable to provided any release details as yet, these should be officially released within the next 3 weeks (including full specs and rrps).

We currently believe the basses should be available to order from the end June with them arriving in stores towards the end of July/Early August.

...............and another 'Fender' letter (?!?)......

Hello <I left the name out for confidentiality issues>
Thanks for writing in. Yes, there will be a Squier Jaguar Bass coming later on this year. However, I don’t have any details available at this time. When the details become available, they will be posted at Invalid Link Removed. We appreciate your interest, and thanks again for writing in.

Best Regards,

Want another new rumor? There's a Jazzmaster/Musicmaster in the works and possibly another color for the VM-J.

You didn't hear any of this from me!

This started out as a mod guinea pig, but eventually became a close contender for my favorite bass:

I don't have my good camera on me, hence the crappy quickie ^.

VM Fretless Jazz
D'Addario Chrome Flats
Pickups: Tesla VR-B4 in bridge, SD Bassline in Neck
500k pots all around
Series/parallel push/pull pot mod
Marvel Strap Locks

I'm pleased with the pickup configuration; in addition to tons of tonal versatility, it can really let loose and rock the house if necessary. More mods are planned for the future, as soon as the capital can be acquired.

Perhaps I finally get to join the ranks of Squire owners. Never in a million years would I have thought of playing one let alone owning but I must admit, for the price, feel, look and quality it's a great buy. Considering the upgrades will be more than the bass itslef I tend to keep all mine so it'll be a nice addition to the family.

Upgrades include, new bridge, pickups, preamp, straplocks, neckplate and neck, the one with the white inlays, new nut, string tree to span 3 strings, tuning keys and new strings. Its a huge investment but I have money to burn. I'll definitly post pics when I get them.

What a great bass for next to nothing and great tone and feel as well.
