I put Fender Lights flatwounds on all of my basses
Boomers are AWESOME strings. So is just about anything made by D'Addario or DR (the DR's are hand wound, and most of them use some crazy high compression system)..
Gonna sound odd - but the so-called 7250s on the bass from the factory are so good that I am actively looking for more of them.
The p'ups are really very hot and with the NPS strings you get a serious amount of power from this bass. I can crank in the lows - but you can also get great amounts of upper end too.
As it sits is really the best of all worlds for tone and voicing of this bass.
I'm - of course talking about the MII 'Fender' 7250 NPS strings here - not the new junk MIA strings that Fender SAYS are their 7250s - I don't care WHO makes them - they suck big ones.
ditto with SurferJoe on the factory VM-J strings. I've only had this particular bass about a month now, but the more I play the thing , the more gobsmacked I am. Still needs a little fret dressing and pondering a replacement bridge, but other than that.....leaving it as is.
I didn't care for the feel of the those strings, I've always DR high beams, but the neon DR's i put on for whatever reason I do like even though they nps it must be the round cores.
Doh! Well - I'm old --- 65 in a couple of days.
Did I tell you where they went? I put them on my homemade Fender Nothingcaster.
Gads! They are super cool too. They bark, howl and generally make those GF Antiquity TO3 p'ups sing.
PS: my only other favorite strings are Elixir Nanos.

Ryan, are you talking to me? I posted a pic on the edit I did to my post one page back. The wilkinson is a perfect drop in just screw it down. Nice.
Today my Fender 9120M Tapewounds came in. Had to open the G string slot slightly all the others fell in. They sound cool, kind of best of rounds and flats in one pkg and are they slick! Can't beat the look either. Very low tension though. Truss rod adjustments needed.
If you want rounds, go for DR black beauties, black is soo cool on this bass! Just fits in. AND sorry Surfer Joe, you can't have my OEM strings! I like them too, they're for my G-3

So, yesterday I received my VM Jaguar Bass, and today I took a pic:
Sweet instrument, was already set up and all when I took it out of the box (probably done in the store: Thomann, in Germany), and plays *** fine! The sound is a bit twangy, probably due to the rounds (I'm used to flats), but I'll change those. One quality remark: the E and A strings are not going right *between* the pup poles, but more or less above one of them. Not enough to have a bad influence on the tone, as far as I can tell. Anyway, those pups are quite a bit louder than the ones on my Fenders.

Nice bass! GAS. Any mods planned? Pick a number! What is the point of numbers anyway? This isn't a club as much as it is an association. The Squier VM Assoc. Not just ANOTHER club!
