My VM sounds so much better than my ESP.
I didn't know what I was missing
I personally don't care for the sound of ESP (also ESP/Ltd.) or Ibanez basses at all.

So, yesterday I received my VM Jaguar Bass, and today I took a pic:
Sweet instrument, was already set up and all when I took it out of the box (probably done in the store: Thomann, in Germany), and plays *** fine! The sound is a bit twangy, probably due to the rounds (I'm used to flats), but I'll change those. One quality remark: the E and A strings are not going right *between* the pup poles, but more or less above one of them. Not enough to have a bad influence on the tone, as far as I can tell. Anyway, those pups are quite a bit louder than the ones on my Fenders.
Nice, that bass looks really nice in natural light. Also it dawned on me that that neck would look sweet on my '77 VM J.
Like this so much, I changed my signature to it! As soon as my tech fellow gets done with my other bass, he's gonna do a little fret filing and adjust to get the little bit of buzz out. Still thinking of changing out the the bridge too...can't decide which one to throw on it though.....
I hear you, i normally change out the strings on my basses pretty quick but the stock strings RULE on my vm jag. Im gonna use them till theyre brown haha
Well its been a while since I got my VM P. Its had a few chips and dings and some cool stickers lol... prolly gonna swap out the apple sticker for a Theeve trucks sticker haha

I found this black Fender bridge that isn't HM :::
Fender # 006-2377-000 ---- for $14.99
Personally I think a HM of any brand is gonna muck up the voice of this bass.

scored an Amber VM P Bass from craigslist yesterday for $ 180.00. looks virtually brand new, 2010 s/n date. all my amps are away at practice, so I have to wait until Wednesday to fire it up, though.

I can't remember, I drink too much beer. Wait.... what was your question? I know I saw it somewhere around here. Oh there it is. Yes I suppose I could sell them. But I'll warn you, that the worm gear on one of them is peeling chrome. Not too bad, but it will progress. Similar can be had on ebay for 30 bucks shipped so I don't know if it's worth it to any VM buddies out there.

my Squier VM fretless...picked up for a song on Craigslist in minty condition. Currently stock with DR Black Beautys.
Beautiful. You know, ever since I played a neighborhood kid's brand new Squier Precision Bass 10 years ago (of course it was not set-up yet) which was the worse Bass I've ever felt, I've written Squier off. You Squier owners have succeeding in me maybe giving them another chance. I look forward to going down the GC in San Bernadino and checking some out.
The bass shutting off completely when one pot is turned all the way down while one is still up is not due to the pots being bad.
It's because of how they are wired. Many older dual pick up guitars were factory wired this way. Forget the exact term, but I seem to remember it being called "50's wiring".
Easy fix by swapping around a couple wires.
