Squier Vintage Modified Precision V: who's got one?

I though I'd share over here as well.

Just picked up some HB7 tuners for my VM Precision 5, and they aren't a perfect fit. While they "drop-in", the screw holes don't line up and I'll have fill the original holes prior to installing.

Update!
It turns out that the HB7's I purchased in the classifieds are actually HB1's... The seller made a mistake. I discovered this after purchasing a treble-side HB7 to complete the job. The HB7 is a perfect fit and the screw pattern aligns perfectly with the stock tuners from Squier. Live and learn...

I’ve decided to trick out my PV before my bass VI. What are some places that would have light weight gold hardware (any recommendations?)? I just got a pickguard From SneakyT, black pearl. Mmmhhhmmmm. Also I have a question that is going to make me look a little greener than some of my others; however is there a place I can get Cream pickup covers? As always thanks guys.

How’s that jazz? I tried one out and hated it compared to the p. It was odd since I never been much of a p player until more recently. Part of it was because the setup of the j was meh. I also found the p's neck more comfortable. I have big hands. But even the tone was just not as bit. I used a mark 2x10 combo for both. Are you using yours more on a case by case situation, or is there one that is clearly better than the other?

The jazz is a modded sx and it's my main bass. Absolutely love it! Mods are Delano pickups, rothstein wiring with series/parallel push pull pot, hipshot ultralites, and a top loader bridge.

Clips can be heard here. The first two tracks on this page are from my band's new album.

The Squier P5 is played on "this is the last time" and the SX is played on "one that got away"

For some lame reason I’m not getting the link to work on my browser. But those Delano can get a pretty throaty tone to them; I thought they had the poles showing normally? Is that a cover on them or do you have different model than the JC (I'm not sure if that’s right name?)?
are you using their P on your PV too? Or are playing stock?

You may have to copy and open link in an a browser, for some reason audio doesn't come through on mobile if linking through an app like TB.

Don't remember the model Delano's off the top of my head but they are stock covers.

Stock pickups on the P5...may put in a nordy pup at some point, but it's fine for now.

Well mine is slowly getting tricked out .I got an abm b style bridge at 18 mm spacing that will go on tonight from what I can tell it will fit direct using the 4 inside srew locations of the original bridge and set back an aditional 3/16 of an inch allowing intonation of the b string.and I have hipsot lic ultra lite tuners arriving today . So pretty much will be done for a while.I have an incredible set up on it right now thw bigest difference for me was to make a 9.5 radius jig to set the string height to match the fingerboard.and I also changed to the orange drop cap at 1.0 this really smoothes out the top end .

I’ve been seeing a lot of people putting the orange drops in to almost everything on here. Do they really make that big of a deference?

So you loose its upper mids/highs more or less. I can see the appeal a bit more, I cant say I will do it to this bass, but If I ever start playing R&B/hip hop again, that could be a good move. I dig the tone at between full and about 75%, but I'm using it a prog rock band. Rolling off only works on a few songs. I might have to get a second one and trick it out for motown hahaha.

Some people claim they hear a difference with the tone knob dimed. That's where things get funny.

Ugh. It came today. a day early. went home at lunch and there it was in the box, just waiting for me to dig in. well, we had some storms roll through this morning and my 166lb Mastiff was scared by them so I spent me entire lunch soothing her. two hours to go and I can't wait to get home and open my newest toy up!
