What's up Talkbass? I've been checkin' out the forums for a couple of years now. I guess my registration is long overdue. Anyway, I'm sure a few of you own, or have played an SR505, Stiletto Custom 5, or Stiletto Elite 5. I've narrowed it down to these three. The 08' Elite is $80 cheaper than the other two, but they all have great reviews. One of the local shops has the 505, but I don't have access to the others. Any input would be appreciated.

SR505 vs Stiletto Custom 5 or Elite 5

I have a sr506 and I think pretty much the same thing, great bass in most areas, but the low string lacks a little bit of sustain and seems just a little too dead to me.

or the SR505. IMO the only thing wrong with the SR505 is the electronics, but you could swap those out later.
Then again, you could get much more bass for your money on the used market

I actually own both the Custom-5 and the Elite-5 in the sunburst color that they discontinued.
In all honesty, the Custom-5 is my favorite. It weighs less, and to me sounds a ton better. I'm trying to sell my Elite-5 at the moment, cause I really don't like it compared to the Custom-5.

No, I decided not to. I really want the Traben John Moyer bass. It is almost identical to the specs of my "dream bass", so I'm going to buy it once I sell the Elite-5.
Nice. I'm really close to getting a stiletto studio myself. It's just taking a little longer then I thought.
I owned an SR505 for a while and it was alright, but I agree about the lack of bottom and it had a general slight mud to it - of these options, go with a Schecter. Also, and this is just my personal nitpick, I HATED that recessed input jack on the 505... I couldn't ever get my dang cord out without pulling on the cord itself!
I agree. I have a 406 and the electronics from Ibanez are not great. I like the action on my Ibanez sixer but I would really like to replace the preamp with a Aguilar and put in Bartolini P/U's but that would cost mor than the base is worth....so I play it occastionally. The Schecters arn't much of an improvement IMO. I have become a Carvin and Tune fanboy!
