ss head for doom/stoner

We need more information. Are you looking to get your distortion from the amp? What cabs are you going to use?

i'm having a fuzz pedal for the distorted sound.
about the cabs i have no idea. I want one cab to begin with so i don't know if this would be a 410, 210/212, 115 or sth. :( If its going to be less than a 410 would it give me the loudness i need?
you see i'm a noob :help:

I don't know the budget but, it's hard to look at that mission profile without thinking of Trace Elliot. Some of the older pieces are way cheaper than they deserve because nobody thinks 2-300 watts is enough.

2-300 TE watts will kill a guitar player at 50'.

My budget is about at 600-680$ max. If you mean 2ohm 300w then the peavy is also one of these old monsters

The TB500 sounds really good, but is kind of a one trick pony. It is a VERY good one trick, but you better love what it does.

IMHO the PF-800 is the better amp in terms of available tone. That is my opinion, and I am sure others will prefer the Orange.

I know that several stoner/doom bassists(Al Cisneros and others) use SVT's etc., but can the pf-500 or pf-800 handle the doom?
Has anyone used one of these heads with non-Ampeg cabs?

Al uses the little SS heads in his live rig. The cabs are kind of the weak point in the live rig, had one blow, so going to other cabs might be a good plan, if your endorsement/touring arrangements allow.

I would go with the GK RB series, either the 1001 or 700, depending on power demands, for what you want to play and avoid the class D versions out there because they have more of a tendency to clip when banging away hard and fast on strings. The 700 will get "grindy" before the 1001 does, but if you play at extreme volumes it won't matter. For cabs get a pair of GK NEO 212's so you can get those speakers up in the air (vertical stacking) with plenty of clarity, girth and punch.
