Stage 81: S/D thread

Yeah, this is what I think and what the drummer thinks. My boss (original recording engineer) has at least $1,000,000 worth of mics, mixers, preamps, outboard processing AND 40+ years of recording experience.

I have none of those things. I'm borrowing some mid-level mics, I have a behringer mixer and guitar player just bought a tascam multi-track recorder. Practice space is in his basement. There's some sheets and **** hanging on the wall, but nothing that really does any good.

...and we've told him NO. Repeatedly. Just no. It's going to be better, for all the reasons listed above. NO.

He won't be persuaded any differently.

Seriously pissed off right now.

Sounds like a two out of three vote win to not do any do-overs.

A band is a democracy and majority rules. It doesn't matter what that guy thinks if the rest of the band doesn't want him to retrack guitars.

Unfortunately in some bands (I've been in A LOT of them), the microcosm of "democracy" works a lot like real life democracy does. The majority agree on a practical course and the minority make a huge stink and derail everything, seeing nothing ever getting done as preferential to not getting their way 100%.

Diggin' on some Miles Davis (Bitches Brew), the man was a freak!

Don't you ever wish he played flute, tenor sax, or a different isntrument lol, trumpets are so brutal on the ears IMHO. I dated a girl who went to school for music and became a music teacher, and when I started dating her, she was asking me what I thought of brass instruments, I said they are ok, but man I hate trumpet, and she started giggling and said that is my main instrument, I should of jumped ship then lol, but I rode that plane to the ground, flames and all lol.

Lol, no, I got no problems with trumpets bro. You know what they say; it's not the instrument, it's how you use it. Or something... :D

Ding ding ding! We have a winner!

I don't even want to get into specifics in public anymore about what band it is and what's going on, but I've been dealing with the most extreme version of this for 6 months. That's how long it's been since a band practice and how long I've been "recording" a 6 track album that could have been finished in 3 or 4 weekends tops if everyone was participating actively.
