Stage Etiquette (Leaving Tuner On)?

Tonight is my first gig playing with my new fender rack mount tuner. I just wanted to know if it was appropriate to leave it on during the set or to only turn it on when I'm using it? The lights are super bright and I'm sure the crowd would notice it if I left it on. What do you guys do? Does this drive you crazy when you see it done on stage?

We're bass players. The unknown, unseen, unsung heros & anchors of the band. You're assuming the audience even knows you're there, much less notices (or cares) what gear you have.

Lol, I was nervous about stepping in on my first blues jam. My fiance urged me to just do it by saying "your just playing the bass, no one will even notice you". That was just what I needed, I got up there made a few mistakes and guess what, nobody noticed!

If I ever see a band that is so boring I am transfixed and absorbed by the lights on their gear instead of the music and presentation, I probably won't be staying very long.

My intellitouch PT10 stays clipped to the bridge on my DB all the time. I didn't realize this might inspire violence from the crowd. Thanks for the heads up! Now I will be prepared with a kick to the midsection for anyone who rushes the stage in my direction!

Same here fender rt-1000 and I have a snark clipped on too. Brenner do you know what input you plug into on the rt-1000? I tried to plug into the rear IN and it didn't seem to track very well. I moved it over to the OUT1 and it works much much better.

Although it is bad enough when a show has to brought to a screeching halt by tuning, when you play with in a band with accoustic guitars frequently outside (and I do, most of our gigs are outdoors) , you will have to tune during the set a few times if you want to actually, ya know, be in tune. Because this is unavoidable, I would far rather not have to see one of my bandmates looking high and low for the tuner when they needed it. It is always right where they need it. I've been with them almost 13 years now and never once has an audience member tried to yank siad instruments out of their hands. I guess they are too busy having a good time rather than obsessing over the stage placement of a 5 inch long electronic object.

Let me guess: music stands, shorts on stage, etc. must set you apoplectic?

Because everyone knows that leaving a tuner on a headstock is cause for, uh... hm... Im not exactly sure.

My tuner doesnt leave my headstock, at least not until I get a new floor unit.
