Steelsound 2x12 review

Where did you hear about Boss doing that? From a retailer? Don't really matter anyway since the suit was settled.

Anyway, probably the best place to get the Pre-amp booster would be Music 123 Link Removed ... $20 free shipping. And a good return policy. (funny, Music123 also carries Boss pedals)

Ahh..and checking the output of the wireless is a good idea as well. How does the rig respond when she uses a cord?
Yeah, I've heard that from a couple of retailers... even official Behringer dealers who carry Behr guitar amps, bass amps, preamps, power amps, guitars, etc... but no single effects pedals.

As far as the cord goes, I really don't know. The only time she uses the cord is in rehearsal (ie not at full volume) and at church (again, not full volume). I'll check out the wireless receiver the next chance I get. What I want to avoid is overdriving the preamp and then having to switch to the active jack (losing volume again).

For the record, that light on your BX3000T is the limiter, not a "clip" light. And it (the limiter) is obviously doing its job which is why you have not damaged the amp or cab and are not getting all distorted.

That said, if she likes the tone of the bass, but the bass is not sending a hot enough signal for the amp (was the limiter light still staying on with the louder P bass?) then before you go changing the pickups (which will probably change the sound of the bass) you might want to look into a simple solution like the Behringer Preamp Booster pedal [Invalid or Expired Link Removed] it does a simple clean boost and has 2 band EQ if you require a little tone shaping. Plus its only $20 (cheaper than pickups) and may be just what you need to heat up the signal from her bass.

She should make herself like the tone of the Fender. ;)

Has anyone else ordered one of these 2x12's from steelsound?

I ordered one on the 25th of June and I havent received a tracking number yet, I dont even think the item has been shipped out...Should I ask for a refund or is this normal for the steelsound company?

I got mine off ebay last month, but through the same company (MSC). They are sometimes a little slow getting stuff out the door. My 212 cab came with 2 of the metal corners damaged. I emailed them and they sent me out replacement corners right away. They come with the legion nameplate on the front now. At first I wanted to remove it, but then decided that I shouldn't be ashamed of it if I thought it sounded good enough to invest in, so I'm keeping the name on there. The cabinet is fantastic. Sounds deep and smooth. I'm using it with a Genz Benz GBE400. I may consider adding another LS 212 to this one for a nice 2Ohm stack. So far I'm very pleased with this cabinet... ESPECIALLY for the price I paid.

My sis just got her 2x12 cab in on Wednesday. Talk about impressive, we ordered it on Friday (late afternoon, at that), and it arrived on Wednesday. Nice!

Cranked it up, and I am duly impressed. We literally had to stop turning it up because we were rattling things off the shelves in our house.

We used it for a band rehearsal on Thursday. I would say that we rehearse at probably 80 percent volume, maybe more, maybe less. Typically, though, the PA carries the other 20 percent. The Steelsound performed amazingly. Finally, we could get the bass up to an appropriate volume level to compete with guitars. Grooves were better, and as a band, we were completely locking in to each other... simply because we could hear the bass. Amazing!

The only thing that frustrates me is that the head we're using (Behringer 300W head) runs out of steam before getting to that ear-splitting level that I like to have available (I like to know that a rig can go louder than I would ever need). Luckily, with some careful EQ adjustments, I can dial in the most headroom and also match the EQ of the cabinet...

I'm soooo used to using combos where the EQ is matched to the speaker and to the enclosure... When using a separate cab, however, you really have to get some clue about what you're doing on the EQ side or else you get some really HOT notes and some really DEAD notes. For me, C-Eb on the A string were really hot, and F#-G on the E string were dead. I spent a few minutes tweaking EQ, though, and was able to dial those inconsistencies out. Not sure if these "hot spots" were due to the cab or to the amp. Pretty sure it was the amp.

Anyway, great cab. Every ounce of buzzing or distortion I've detected so far have come either from clipping the amplifier or vibrating other things in the cab's vicinity. Thanks, Jay, for the strong reccomendation. I may sell my 230W Peavey combo to buy a couple of these and the new Behringer 450W head... lol...
I told you to buy the 8-10 cab, but you didn't listen. Joe

Lol. Not my decision to make. And the cab had to be carried by a 16 year old, 100 pound girl. Otherwise I'd be hauling her gear more than I already do!

I do appreciate the tip, though. If I ever get into a band playing bass to the point where I need to upgrade my rig, I'll be going with an 810, I think.

Not the same cab, friend. My brand is Steelsound, not Legion. They might have identical stats, for all I know, however...

^Mine came yesterday with the tweeter busted...There was a gash on the box that the cab came in right near where the tweeter was so I guess thats where it got punched in...The tweeter soon fell backwards into the bottom of the cab so, needless to say, I'm returning it to get another one...

However it says on the back that the model number is the SSB-212L and it is an 8ohm cab (it also has the Legion nameplate on it)...This really displeased me seeing as how it says SSB-212 on the website and on my order form/receipt thing...I ordered a 4ohm SSB-212 not an 8ohm SSB-212L...

Have the SSB-212's been discontinued or something?

Wow. I wish ours was an 8 ohm. Then we could run two.

wanna trade?...:p im just kidding...I really wanted a 4ohm because I'm planning on using the 2x12 as a standalone cab for now and when I need more power I figure I'll buy an amp that runs at 2ohms and add another 4ohm cab...

but do you know why they sell these now instead of the steelsound ones?..I got it from MSC btw..is that why?
