Steelsound 2x12 review

I personally like the metal corners over plastic, the plastic just looks cheesy.

+1000 on the metal jack plate, I broke mine the first week I had it.

Is it just me or are the Knight 15's very comparable to the Executioner 15's for a fraction of the price.

Good point on the comparability of the Knights and the Executioners. In several of their writeups (of different PA speakers they carry, etc.) Steelsound seems to mention that they actually "like" the sound palette of the Knights as much or more than the Executioners - difference being the power handling of the latter type.

The Knights seem to be great products, in any case.

I got back from the gig about 1/2 hour ago. I tried to get some stuff recorded on my mp3 player/recorder but it was too close to the stage. Anyway, the cab worked so well. I used the steelsound 2x12 in conjunction with my powered 2x10 Peavey cab and Lakland 55-01 bass (didn't even touch my back-up 4-banger, even after 4 sets.

OMG, everything sounded 10 times better. Each band member gave me compliments on the sound and I got 3 from the crowd, including bar owner. I connected the 2x12 w/my Hartke HA2000 @ 4OHMS and amped the 2x10 separately. The stage sound was great, and I was turned down to a near nil level in the PA. The 2x12 did exactly what I wanted it to do...Carry the lower and lower mid frequencies. It never broke up even after being on 5 hours. The B string cut through just fine. No cab vibrations, either.

Dang it's nice to see such a great review. I really would like one of those cabs. Price is right for me! Thanks! :)

Of course that doesn't apply to the 10" and 18" executioners which look and sound badass...

Nice review!

Glad it worked out so well.

One question - did you wind up disconnecting the tweeter or not? Right now mine is still on....I'm thinking of just disconnecting the wires once I get the 4th order crossover installed in the 2x10....idea to just use one horn and let the 2x12 do the "12" thing.

Congrats on the gig and the bass (and the cab)...I'm happy with mine as well.

I didn't disconnect the tweeter because there will be situations when I'll use the 2x12 as a standalone and I'll need it (church). I didn't have any difficulties with too much high end when I used it w/my 2x10w/horn last night, so for me it's fine the way it is. I'll take another crack at some sound files next weekend since I play both at church and out.

Well, I was dropping the drop-in crossover from Gary into my Avatar 2x10, and I decided to take apart the Steelsound cab and play.

I wound up disconnecting the tweeter...doing an A/B for a while (with and without the 2x10), and I decided that the cab just sounds MUCH better with the tweeter connected. It's a very subtle piezo speaker that really rounds out the cab's tone.

Go figure.

hi guys
ok i will reply to the posts for me previous.. but i gotta tell ya i gotta vent this time. I know that i have seen other ventings here on the site but guys i have to vent
Now i work hard and help anyone anyway that i can, but when i get calls and guys are cussing me out , and i dont mean just normal swearing, yelling at me full blown and F**$# ever other word and calling me names personally because of shipping damages, not because it left here broke, but very visable shipping damage holes in the box torn open abuse, i gotta tell ya, i cant deal with that and if that certain person is here reading this, and he will know who he is, hes called me MULTIPLE times the same way, i gotta ask how the hell can you be so rude.I didnt jump on your box and slam it around and punch holes in it, yet I still have done everything possible to make it right, and doing claims and reshipping you and to have both shipments damaged.. makes me wonder if you pist off your fedex delivery man. If you talk to him the same way i can understand why!!!

1) 2x15 cabs need a tweeter, then I'll definately be ordering one.
2) When will you be stocking Legion Sound Flight Cases again?
3) Hi!

3.) hi back :)
2) Dont know if we will be stocking those again .. ill be honest the cases have some issues with handles especially, and i have asked that they NOT be brought back until the design can be improved.
1) i can put in the feedback on the tweet.. OR you can also do a custom quote job from the site and request that be put in the custom cab.. everything the same just add the tweet

see ya

First - Hi!

Second - most of the big PA order came in today...I'll post more about it soon.

Third - I'd love to hear about another monitor option as the pair we had worked out together was out of stock.

Hope you're having a great week,
Jay

Right on - thanks! I bought a couple PA speakers from you guys at the warehouse a while back (I actually own 4 pa cabs that I purchased from you) at the warehouse and, even though you guys were in the process of remodeling, relocating, you were still more than happy to help me out and you found me a pair in the trucks out back. It's that kind of service that makes me want to visit you guys again.
