Finally got a decent shot of the flipped XL-2UF in action:

Just got a "new" bass in my family... a fabulous mint XL25 Wide (thank you, Don!), an extraordinary thundering Demoiselle named Emily III. (after Rolls Royce's famous Spirit of Ecstasy also called Emily, a well traveling experienced Lady).

Nice action pic... but can you show some more on the flip-job, we wonder how this looks like!![]()
Congratulations, it's beautiful!!!
Enjoy it!!!![]()
I own 3 ORIGINAL Steinbergers, Newburgh made !! What do any of you think about it being made in the Czech, and why there isn't a 4 string version ??
What about pics please... we all d'love to see them!![]()

Beautiful collection! And is your XQ5 modified? Never seen 4 knobs on v.1
Yes. The previous owner swapped the original HAZ labs for an 18v EMG preamp. The work was done at Peekamoose.Beautiful collection! And is your XQ5 modified? Never seen 4 knobs on v.1
Volume; blend; mid; and concentric bass/treble. It was awesome. Sold the bass to a member here, so it's still in the family.Just thought the same at first sight... 3 in line or as triangle but never a 4-knob, what is the config?

Better use a file than sanding-paper, when flat* again you can swap them as long they got the equal string-layer shape.
Afaik the saddles were never adapted to the gauge of the strings, on both of my basses (L + XL) they are all equal.
*You better do not swap it untreated for the mass of the blocks would be interrupted...![]()
Im thinking filing it could remove that 10th of a MM and that can make a difference as well , dunno ,,,, ill give it more thought . Its not a problem ,,, im just thinking down the track .
The string pivots on the blocks are the same , theres no EADG block for either string (visually looking at it that is) But like you say changing the blocks around after all these years could have an affect on somethingIm thinking filing it could remove that 10th of a MM and that can make a difference as well , dunno ,,,, ill give it more thought . Its not a problem ,,, im just thinking down the track .
BTW ; congrats on the beautiful 5,er
