Miss my "M"-one of the biggest mistakes of my life-selling that bass-it had a transtrem that didnt work-should have just replaced the bridge or payed to have it fixed-

I'm looking for a 5 strings fretless and the new NS-CR Radius could be one of my choices.

No shop in my area has it in stock, so no chance to try it...

Is there anyone that have ever tried the Radius bass fretless?

Is it possibile to achieve low action and what about the intonation?

On the net and in this tread, I've read useful information about the fretted model, but nothing on the fretless (apart a video in German).

Any information will be very appreciated!

TJ, seems the Radius is also gonna be gear which will not be so wide-spread... what about getting one sent (Thomann Music e. g.) with the possibility to return it within 30 days?
In pics it looks as the bridge is to move as one, but i guess a NS-axe will not having a faulty conception with intonation.
Hope you can get your hand on one in person before you have to make bad experience (which i really, really don't believe). ;)

p.s. you may contact Bernd (Be-eM here) to get further information and advice... he's helpful for sure.

I haven't played a fretless one yet, however, the German "Gitarre & Bass" magazine had a review of the fretless version. Are you able to read German? I could send you a copy.

Thomann now has a Invalid Link Removed in stock :)

You can adjust the bridge individually on each side (back and forth). I can't speak about some weird alternate tunings (as I never use them, not even on my guitars), but there's definitely NO problem setting intonation. It comes with a correct intonation to start with…

Bob & Bernd,
thank you for your reply.

It could be a good idea to order it to Thomann and eventually send it back, but I have to make a trade with my old fretless.

I know that Ned is the man, but you know to order an instrument without trying it first...

Bernd, I'm not very familiar with German language, but I'll use Google translator: please send me the review (I already PM you with my email address), thank you!

Given the size difference in those rods, do you need a spacer in the channel?

I first want to apologize. I totally posted this in the wrong thread. I'm so out of it due to some recurring back pain (I had surgery a year ago for it) and I was totally out of it from a muscle relaxer I take.

That being said, YES.

I use a felt material that is sicky on one side. I get it at Michaels. You wrap it around the truss and then cut it to fit.

When you put the truss back into the neck the felt not only helps dampen any vibration from the truss not fitting perfectly, but it also helps fill in the spaces.

No problem Bernd, I prefer to spend some time to refresh my German, rather than make a hasty purchase. :)

For all those who can't read German, here is an English review of the fretless CR5, including sound samples:

PremierGuitar

Interesting fact: two out of three reviews I've read so far falsely state a wooden fretboard… it's phenolic, and I think this sheds some light on the psychological aspects of those "no plastic, only ebony for me" naysayers ;)
