We can't say this in the FS thread itself, but that is quite overpriced. If the dude can get it, hopefully not from someone who subscribes to this thread, more power to him.
Curious that the seller says it is "open box" but he's offering it with a Roadrunner bag.. NOT the original Spirit gig bag, which came with it.
Although the Spirit gig bags are pretty econo, I would expect to get the one that came with it if the bass has not been used.

Not for a 5 string and due to the lack of aftermarket pickup upgrades. A 4 string is ideal for me at whatever cost someone is willing to offer me. I may be desperate but not desperate enough for a 5 string white version
Even if I could, I would save my energy to talk them down for a 4 string version

Enjoying my Spirit Xt-2 immensely. Last week I installed some Labella Deep Talking Flats on it, and will now be switching all of my basses to them (moving away from Chromes). Super nice strings, those Labella's.
I know this was discussed earlier in this thread, but I thought I would mention I had good luck getting the bass to position better on the strap with a rear side, mid mounted strap button. I'm not sure how well this would work if you have a large belly, but if you are relatively thin this certainly seems to be a decent option. I will note that strap mounting my wireless unit is a little less comfortable with this solution, but it is certainly do-able.
I will eventually try an extension arm, but I'm wondering if it will prevent the bass from fitting into the case I got for it at headlessusa.com.
Anyone know?

Leaving out the extension arm question for the moment- You probably should return the Headless USA hard case unless you've already tried it with your XT and know that it fits. From [Invalid or Expired Link Removed]: "These cases will NOT fit the many types of imported "Steinbergers" such as the Synapse, ZT3, Spirit or Hohner headless models." Even if you were able to press/shoehorn/whatever your XT into the Headless case, it will not go in with an extension arm attached.
There are no problems with extension arms fitting into gig bags. Headless USA has the [Invalid or Expired Link Removed] that would definitely work, but with shipping are around $90. You can always go the rifle bag route.
I do not have an XT, but I do have two Synapses with their OEM extension arms - they fit right in to the factory gig bags. Dimensions are similar, so the Headless bag should work fine for your XT with an arm.

It can be done. Requires some modifications to the case itself but it's not that hard to do. I actually bought the Steinberger hard case for mine (impossible to find now I'm sure) but should work for your case as well I'd think. Had to remove the wood cross member (simply locate and remove the screws on the outside of the case that hold that cross member in place, both sides of the case to remove, pretty simple) and cut a slot down so the extension will lay flat, replace the covering. The foam between the bass and the cross member is real simple to cut down - peel the faux fur covering back and cut it out, replace the covering (use some adhesive to make it stick back down if you like but probably not necessary - it won't move). Photos attached to illustrate.
As you can see from the one photo I tried the moving a strap pin to different locations on the back but wasn't happy with how it felt to play (awkward) so I found someone with a computerized plasma cutter to make me some copies of the Steinberger strap hook (which are also impossible to find). I had several made just in case, if you're interested I could hook you up with one (PM me if interested). With the strap hook the bass hangs naturally and plays and feels "normal". Without the strap hook to me it was basically unplayable, which IMO is why a lot of people don't like these basses. The knuckleheads at Gibson should have had a boot up their @ss for not including the strap hook with the bass when sold new.

Thanks for that EdO. I'm actually pretty happy with the strap button adjustment for the time being. That alone made a huge difference.....but will hit you up if I change my mind.
Just buy a shotgun bag for the Spirit. They fit and are much cheaper.

I'm here to say that the original Spirit bags in the early 2000's were nothing to write home about. No much padding to speak of, thin nylon, and the zippers were pretty cheap. Of course they were selling those basses for $350 and under, so you wouldn't expect much of a bag in that price range. I have written earlier in this thread about the time ten years ago or so that the bag zipper broke and dumped my XZ-25 onto my concrete garage floor. Probably any decent modern rifle or shotgun sling bag would be two or three times better than those original Spirit bags.
Nowadays, I just stick the XZ's into my full-sized Mono gig bags and don't worry about a thing. I kept my two remaining Spirit bags for the day that I sell one, which as many instruments as I have, should be sometime soon!

Yeah, it was thin and super cheapo. Gave mine away to someone, don't even remember who but was glad to find the (rare) branded hard case to replace it. Makes it a collectors item, no?

I used to own a Spirit XT25, but found the string spacing too tight. Might get the 4-string version.
I look like I have a new job that will mean a bit of travel, at least initially. I just ordered a new tan double bag to put the Spirit guitar and 5 string in. Add a Spark and I can play anywhere.
You're in Florida where the laws are sensible. I've been stopped walking down the street with mine here as firearms are all but outlawed and almost never seen on the street unless on a Police Officer's hip.
My guitarist travels extensively worldwide for work and tells me she's rarely questioned on the Spirit guitar in it's factory Steinberger bag.
We'll see if the new bag draws less attention than the camo ones I have for the other basses.
Not really - but when I sold my parts-'berger to GC not long ago I kept the gig bag (it was an XQ body with a Spirit wooden neck on it, and came in a genuine Steinberger bag). When I got my XZ-25 from GC, it fit in the bag quite nicely. I don't take it out much so I'll probably just leave it in that bag until I find a guitar bag for it. That's the nice thing about these instruments, being more compact they can fit into EG bags. Maybe I'll get a dual-EG bag when I acquire a real XQ one day to use for both of them.
