I'm at a gig right...listening to the opening bands play before mine goes on. The band playing now has played with their backs to the crowd the entire set...like 30 mins of backs and butts...lol kinda want to go stand behind the drummer so that I feel played to

I saw Pentagram last year. Since singer Bobby Liebling is the only original member of the band, and the only one most of the fans know on sight, he did all the talking between songs, while the bassist and guitarist stood facing their rigs tuning their instruments, and the drummer was hidden behind his kit as usual. At least while they were playing they were rocking out up front facing the crowd, but I thought it was odd they kind of hid between songs.

Saw a butt-band recently, too, so maybe there is a new 'movement' towards 'amp-gaze'. The same night another band had its lead singer/guitarist/BL turn away from the audience, hide behind the multitude of other players (a nonet) and played an iPad with his back to the audience for a (long) song.

Didn't come across as cool in either case. If it is indeed a new "thing", I hope it's short lived, but to each their own.

How was it. Did Bobby still have the vocals?

For the first couple of songs it was a little painful and his age showed, but once he got warmed up he was fine. He also snapped and barked at the soundman for not having a moniter at center stage for him lol. I've seen the documentary and interviews and I can imagine him being difficult to work with. But he puts on a good show and was flirting with chicks in the front row big time. The band was awesome. I was right in front of the guitarist, who played Epiphone ES-335's and it sounded sweet.

ETA: looking at wikipedia Matt Goldsborough was the guitarist, but it says Victor Griffin is back in the band now. Now I want to see them again.
