Here's mine (Sorry about the crappy pic.) aside from the neck I added a Duncan Antquity pickup cloth wiring a vintage Orange Drop .1 cap, CTS pot, a tugbar & covers.

My advice: get over it.

Best advice in the thread. Saves money, too.

Or...see if you can come up with a FJ '54RI from Ishibashi. Better manufacture, no inlay. They're rare, but I've seen them.

Another more removed option is the Mexican Dirnt, if you can find one that's not firewood-grade product. I couldn't, but it's at least a nice concept instrument.

I have a '51. The lack of contours has never been an issue. I'm never even aware of it.

Great bass. And yes, call me shallow, but the Stinglay would be enough to keep me from buying that bass.

Intellectually it's easy to think appearance doesn't matter. In reality though, let's face it, the vast majority would rather play something they actually like the looks of. Aesthetics matter. Otherwise we'd hang any crappy piece of art on the wall.

I think the issue is that if people want a '54 reissue, that's what they want 100%, not 99%.
Why does Geddy Lee's (or Steve Harris', or Pino Pallidino, or...) just have a signature?
Is this some megalomaniacal demand of Stings?

I agree, maybe a autographed pickguard or neckplate but the inlay looks odd (No offensive ment)
