Stingray 5 30th Anniversary

How does that Sterling 5 compare to the 30th?
Both have a ceramic pickup
7The Sterling has much more "zing- on the top end.....It's got to be the preamp as they are voiced differently.....Pickups should be the same. Both ceramic...but big difference in tone...Also the blade switch on the Sterling has much more obvious effect than the blade on the 30th.....Hope that answers it for ya.

Yet again, another instance when I don't get the "stellar build quality" that people hype up so much with MM.

Wow, I have owned nearly two dozen EB Musicmans and borrowed/played many more and have never had the issues you mention on your post.
The factory nuts are set high, but I can spend 15 minutes on a setup lowering the nut slots to my preferred height and I can get any MM playing nice and low.

+1 Caca.....Never had issues with Musicman qc......Had quite a few!

Does anyone with a SR5 30th and a SR5/SR Classic give an opinion on the two? Is the 30th closer to the classics than the other modern day Stingrays? Asking because I might have to go for a Classic/Neckthrough if I'm unable to nab one before they all disappear :(

I've owned the SR5 with alnicos, and currently have the 30th Anniversarry SR5.....The standard SR5 is slightly more aggressive than the 30th.....Tone controls on the standard are more extreem.....They revoiced the preamp to be more moderate on the eq so you're not going to get the over the top highs on tap on the standard, with the 30th.....Musi

cman said they wanted it to sound good even if you dimed the eq......It's much like the preamp response in the 4 string OLD SMOOTHIE.....I have a Sterling that will "rip your knees off" if you dimed the eq.....lol.....But really who does that anyway? The 30th sounds really good....Remember current SR5'S are alnico pu's...The 30th is ceramic, like the older SR5's were.....

Hey Mike

I couldn't deal with the guys at Sam Ash but found another SR5 30th and jumped on it. Still can't believe how much flame is on that neck. I definitely lucked out. Hoping I will like the tone and neck feel on that one.

Will post pics once I have it in my hands
cheers,
Cool

How do you go about the serial #?
How do you know which one is yours in relation with the production?

C

Yep, that's me.
The kid gave me the price pitch but couldn't agree on price.
The flame on this one is PHENOMENAL.
Here's a pic... what you think?

Amazing congratulations!!

Really this series has The best neck flames I have ever seen.

Anyone know if The series has a limit on the amount they Will produce?
